New computer problem

Hi guys, sorry if this is the wrong thread, basically i got a computer from overclockers today and when i turn it on, the fan sounds like a formula one car and nothing boots.

any suggestions?

I'll only ring them from work as it costs so much, meaning I can't try to fix it over the phone, not to mention, I had to send the first computer i bought from them back with other problems, lord all i want is a working computer..... rage

I'm really not comfortable taking the computer apart, I would like to take this huge fan off - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-020-AL&tool=3

but i believe it's screwed to the back of the motherboard, so i would have to take the whole motherboard off...

I think either the couriers overclockers use are useless, or overclockers are (reviews would suggest there not), My first computer needed me to refit the sound card, the second time it came i needed to re - plug a hard drive, and now with this computer from what i can see everything is fitted together, thats about as far as my expertise is going to go regarding computer hardware, but this will be the 3rd time I've had to send something back to overclockers....

can anyone suggest a different company?

I'd like to think I know enough about computers to deal with these minor inconviences, but this is getting beyond the joke now...

i'm not sure if the sound is coming from the psu or the fans to be honest

ok so it's booting up ok, but i'm quite sure the sound is an issue it's so loud, and i didn't wanna leave it on for too long in case it made the problem worse

i guess it's more of a grinding noise, do you guys think it could be something to do with the psu based on this?

Hi, So i'm pretty certain it's the cpu fan thats making the noise, the PSU fan stops spinning after the first 5 seconds.

Here is the diagram of the motherboard, where the yellow circle is, there are 2 atx cables, one attached the other not (i guess with it having nothing to plug in to)

the red circle showing one of the parts of the motherboard that does not have a wire/lead connected to it.

I'll try that when I get home, that sounds very possible, as it is indeed more a grinding sound that the fan working on max settings

Ok so, they seem to think it's likely that based on the fan i have, something might be catching on the central fan, and that I should try and giggle them around to overcome this problem, as they can sometimes end up in the wrong position from transit.

Will give this a go when i get back from work / gym and let you guys know what happens

Hey guys, all fixed now, soon as took the middle fan off and put it back on it did the trick, must have been something catching on it..
