Hiya

I've just installed my new PC and got Windows up and running etc.

Now I seem to have acquired some kind of bug/virus that won't allow me to open applications that have been downloaded off the net, i.e. Windows live messenger or iTunes. I get the following error:

Setup failed to extract files from "x". This is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted cabinet file. Please restart your machine and run setup again.

I've so far run Spybot S&D and Ad-aware but still having this problem. I've also noticed running in the toolbar a flashing icon saying 'Virus alert!" which makes me assume this is the source of the problems, however cannot seem to get rid of this.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Tom

if it a virus u cant remove after a restart ect, switch off system restore, then remove virus , restart & switch it bak on.
some virus's stay on pc no matter how many times u try 2 remove it with sytem restore on, try that, good luk

Cheers for the input guys.

I've tried what you suggested but still to no avail.

I've reinstalled Windows and now that the virus thing has gone, i'm still getting the corrupt file error when I try and extract an application that i've downloaded.

Absolutely no idea what could be causing this so any suggestions very much welcomed.

Thanks
Tom

It seemed to be the Nvidia firewall that was corrupting my downloads, uninstalled this and now things seem to be fine..

Appreciate all the input guys.
