Hi guys,

So I'm getting a new machine for work which is mainly 3d modelling in 3dsmax hence the amount of ram. Before I purchase anything I wondered if you guys who know a lot more than me could cast your eyes over the spec to see if anything stands out as a mistake and maybe something better should be picked or maybe soemthing thats incompatible.

I'm not overly sure on the motherboard in so far as all the ones to choose from seem very similar having went through their spec. Also, not sure if I should be forking out quite as much on the gfx so might downgrade that a bit.

looks fine, though maybe i'd opt for 4*8gb ram rather than 4*4 (but you'll need win 7 pro, rather than win 7 home)
also get a non-treehugger (ie non-green) hdd, 7200 rpm vs 5000-5900 rpm
850w psu is overkill, if you're running just 1 gtx680, 550w is fine
and probably change the ssd to a crucial m4 rather than sandisk extreme
 
I take it this is pre-built? What is your budget?

Are you confident to build yourself? If so you can save a bit of money.

Are you gonna to be gaming or is it just for 3D MAX (type programs)?
 
I was thinking the larger psi just because I was thinking about adding a couple of extra hdd's or should that not matter.

Didn't realise exactly what the 'green' meant, good spot.

So will win 7 home only recognise so much ram?

It is a prebuilt. I've only ever built one previously and with it being for business I was after the peace of mind that if something's wrong I can simply get ocuk to fix it as I don't really have the expertise to do it myself confidently.

With regards games I will be using it for that but very much as a secondary thing to my business.

Also, can somone tell me out of these 3 motherboards which one is better suited:

- Asus P9X79 Deluxe
- Asus rampage IV formula
- Asus rampage IV extreme

From the description it just seems like the latter is far better for overclocking. This will be a pre-built overclocked system, so does that mean it will allow ocuk to overclock it further if i choose it?
