Hi there,

I Was wondering if anyone could help me. I am looking into buying a new pc from Overclockers. I wanted to build it myself and pick parts/case from the overclockers website. I don't really have any experience in it and would greatly appreciate some help. I have an old DELL XPS 420. Could I use its case?

I was looking into spending £750/800. I just wanted something that could play all the new games coming out on good graphics?

Would anyone mind helping me :)?

Thanks

Sara

How about an operating system, can you re-use your present one? Any Sata (not IDE) HDD's still in good condition? DVD (again Sata) drive maybe?

I don't know whether an OS or an ODD is required, but here would be a good start. If you don't plan to overclock, then a lower i5 would be fine and if those aren't required then you have the rest to spend on a graphics card, such as a GTX970. I've also done a quick check and that cooler should fit into the case (as long as the measurements stated are correct on the product pages).

Something a little cheeper

Hi,

I dont really do anything other than gaming. Netflix etc is about it.

What operating system might be best?

I have never assembled a computer... is it easy

Thanks

Sara

Both look fine, just a size difference.

If you wanted to crossfire the MSI lightening card then a better PSU is needed.

750w to SLI the GTX970s.

All the boards listed support dual graphic cards.

Except - MSI Z97 Gaming 3 which is 16X/4X so Crossfire only.

550W maybe enough for a single card, but should you want to add a 2nd, then its not.

I have been thinking about buying a pc rather than building one.

With that you can forget about playing new games at good graphics settings, and the PSU does not provide for upgrade improvements.

Tell us the total you can spend, and we might be able to spec something a little better, which OcUK can build you for approximately £60 (if that general fee still holds).
