New contract/micro sim

I'm looking to get htc desire on orange, with cashback deal and i was thinking if i was to sell the desire and buy a iphone 4 and cut down the sim and use the iphone instead, would that work on the contract??

OK I will ask the question lots of people are going to ask ...... why would you sell a Desire to get an iPhone 4 ?

If i end up liking the desire then i would keep it, if i don't like and I miss the iPhone then i would sell it, so just want to know if I could just cut down the sim and keep using the contract on the iphone
