Howdy folks

We're looking to replace our current 'vacuum' - a bissell Air Ram - its not really a vacuum cleaner, more of a powered sweeper but its done a good job with the dyson v6 on backup. The Bissell is dying and being over 10 years old is now ready for the skip in the sky. My partner has weak hands and doesn't want to tow around a unit on wheels like a trailer so require an upright so the weights at the bottom rather than at the hand and not trigger based as this hurts her hands. Ideally looking for one with additional batteries so that we can keep on charge and swap when needed.

The market has very much shifted to the stick based with the weight at the top so I thought I'd seek the collective wisdom of the forum if there where any ideas? I'm based in New Zealand these days so supply is more limited but I can deal with that via family in the UK if I needed to... just trying to get a handle on what is actually out there!

The Gtech is the one that my elderly mother uses. She can't hold up a stick Dyson due to the weight, so the Gtech with it's weight on the ground like a traditional upright, but being much lighter, is ideal for her.

hmmm wierd I had replied to this thread but its not showing!

The current Bissell AirRam we use is the 1st gen Gtech equivalent - Bissell hold the worldwide rights so sell it in NZ but sadly we cannot get the newer ones delivered and the shipping via my sister is huge annoyingly.

We can get the Hoover ONEPWR Evolve Pet Elite or its slightly better Ryobi equiavelent (the ryobi has twin rollers and more interchangeable batteries) here in NZ which seems reasonable but there is a real derth of uprights with the weight at the bottom!

We have the Shark Stratos which isn't trigger powered which was one of the main reasons to get it as a replacement for a Dyson V8 as my wife struggled with it. Removable batteries (2 included) is nice too.

My only complain is no wall mount. It does fold over and stands upright on it's own but sometimes i think a wall mount with just a nozzle fitted would be more useful to grab and use.

Whats the weight of the unit like when you're using it? I struggle with the run time on some of these units - the stratos has 9 minutes at full power per battery - seems the NZ version is only shipped with one battery too /sigh.
