new corsair 600T build

Here is my pros and cons after owning this case less then a week

Pro's
- Cable management like the 800D/700D
- All black interior
- Door locking mechanism is even better then 800D/700D which sometimes had issues lining up the door
- Good build quaility and looks which I like and the plastic doesn't bother me (had an 800D and too heavy/big)
- 8 pci slots so can handle 3 gtx 480's or 2 5970's easily
- Hard drive racks are removable and can even place them beside each other
(handy for long cards or if you need extra cooling)
- HD caddys have noise dampening and 3.5" drives are tooless install. Seems to work too and no vibration as reported by some on 700D/800D.
- HD caddys also support 2.5" SSD's and come with the neccessary screws
- Best 5.25" tooless system I've ever seen
- Supports long psu's. Corsair AX1200 fits no bother
- usb 3.0 support on front panel
- integrated fan controller for 4 fans (but to be honest it's only a knob which turns 4 fans up or down at the same time)
- dust filters on everything including psu and very easy to remove and clean -
- potentially very good cooling once your replace the top 200mm fan with 2 decent 120mm fans or wait for some decent 200mm fans that are 20mm thick to come out

Con's
- Stock cooling sucks for high end components, thanks to the anemic fans which are only 20mm thick and don't push much air. Solved by using decent 120mm fans on top, and reversing the rear fan so it's an intake.
- Stock fans are not silent even on low. There is noticeable motor noise. Coolermaster Megaflows are quieter for example.
- Fan controller doesn't do much. Fans don't speed up until it's at full and even then only slightly. But noise increase is substantial.
- Plastic outside construction although good quality
- The open mesh nature of the case means you will hear any noisy components you might have.
- The all black finish inside can scratch easily. Not as robust as the powdercoating on the 700D/800D. I'm talking specifically about the upper HD bay. If you move it on front of the PSU, when you slide it in, it tends to scratch the finish on the floor of the case
- The edges of the case where the door meets it chips paint easily on the corners. (i just used a black marker to touch up)
- Corsair should have put a grommet hole on right side edgoe of the case near the i/o shield and another one further down near the pci slot, so you could route usb 3.0 cable behind mobo tray and come out along the side of the case and connect either to your onboard usb 3.0 or your addin usb 3.0 card.
- No case speaker included
- The cables for the power switch, reset, usb etc.. are not sleeved all the way
- There is not enough cable management hooks on the back of the motherboard tray and they should be slighly bigger to allow you use larger zip ties
- The right sidepanel should be slightly more bowed in the middle to allow for more cables, just like on the HAF-X
- The edges around the outside front of the case are piano black finish and are a dust magnet. They will also scratch very easily
- No option to turn off LED's on fans

That's a pretty compromise list Flanno thanks for that.

I forgot about the fan controller and USB 3 connections as I'm sure they do add a lot to the premium of case but I'm not sure I would want to replace my Lian Li PC-50 with this case from corsair given the issues with the fans/cooling.

Well I wont say the issues with cooling/fans are too bad. The case is still hotter then a Raven RV02/FT02 or HAF-X which are probably the 2 best air cooling cases you can buy. But still within spec.

For example :
I have the following in my H50 :

i7 950 @ 4ghz
12gig G.Skill Pi 1600mhz CAS6
Rampage III (not using chipset cooler so passively cooled)
2 EVGA GTX 480's with wider PCI vented slot and backplate
2 Samsung F4 2TB, 2 C300 SSD's
Sony optiarc

Cooling is :
Stock fans set to low
An additional 120mm Akasa Apache mounted where top HD bay was and
blowing into gpu's. Stays around 1100rpm idle.
H70 with 2 Apaches in Push/Pull as intakes set to manually throttle from 30% at 40C to 100% at 70C in bios

- My cpu idles in mid to high 30's according to realtemp. Never goes over 50 when gaming. Intelburntest maxes in mid 60's so not bad at all.

- My gpu's which were problematical but since I added the Viper to cool them and put in a custom fan profile in afterburner courtesy of Raven, are now idling in mid to high 40's. They never go over 85 if I run Heaven and usually around 80 when gaming. Well within spec and as cool as my mates HAF-X The temps are measured by MSI Afterburner

- My system temp stays in low 30's idling, and high 30's under load
- The IOH temp which is the biggest cause for concern on the rampage 3, stays in high to mid 50's when idling and stays below 70 under load.
Both of these temps are measured by Asus AI Suite and as long as the IOH stays below 100C you have nothing to worry about

What is this case like for noise? I'm thinking about ditching my Fractal R2 as its a bit too small for all my gear. I have two 140 extractor fans and two 120 intakes so its not exactly silent anyway.

Thanks

The case is reasonably quiet but nowhere near fractal levels over all the open mesh. Do not buy this case if you are used to Antec P183, Fractal noise levels.

Here are the only pics I have. Not great quality as was dark when I took them.

Specs are :
Corsair 600T
Corsair AX1200 PSU
i7 980x at 4.2ghz (picked it up cheap today from a mate)
12gb G.Skill Pi 1600mhz CAS6
2 x EVGA SC+ GTX 480 + Backplate + High Airflow Bracket
2 x Crucial C300 256GB SSD
2 x Samsung F4 2TB
Sony OptiArc AD-7260S 24x DVDRW
Dell 3008WFP 30"
X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro
Musical Fidelity M1 Dac
Marantz PM6003 Amp
Monitor Audio BX2 speakers
Logitech K800 wireless keyboard / G700 wireless mouse

Added 2nd SSD - double sided thick tape :) it's on straight now, not like in the pic :)

Front shots

Have not looked. To be honest, in the flesh the leds are white and subtle. The flash on the camera makes them look much much brighter then they are.

I agree with above. I thought I would have to cut off the wires as I generally don't like case LEDs but they are white and not blinding.

Have had this case for some time now and all I can say is ,it's a very good case and one of the best cases I've ever had will get some more picks up soon as ime getting crosair H70 and one more 5770 in crossfire got it running at 4ghz now, and temps are fine

Just quick update got a Amd 6870 and some braided cables and a nzxt fan controler on the way, put some picks up when fitted. have put a new 30mm thick fan in the front makes a big inprovment on air flow
