New CPU advise

Hi,

Currently looking to upgrade my CPU.

I have a i5-3750k I've tried to overclock but it's very unstable even @3.7ghz. The best I can get is 3.6ghz.

I would prefer to get a cpu/mobo/ram(ddr4) bundle. I'm a bit of a novice with building.

I only use the pc for gaming. Mainly wow which is more cpu dependant than gpu(GTX 1060)

Absolute max budget would be £450.00

i5 8400 then pick a board and as much ram as you can afford, which won't be a lot at the current ridiculous prices.

Before upgrading check your cpu is getting enough power (voltage) and it is not overheating. The boost frequency on that cpu is 3.8ghz which you should have no problems reaching. Quickly looking on web most easily go past 4.0ghz.

If you are using the stock Intel cpu cooler that is likely the cause of your problem and need a better cooler to keep temps lower.
