new cpu cooler

ive just installed a bequiet pure cooler on my i5 3570k, its only been on for a few hours however the idle temps seem a little high, 33 - 38 degrees??

thought it might be cooler than this. I know the weather is rather warm today (22degrees) but was expecting more.

does it take a few days for things to settle down?

I dont think that seems high, have you tried ramping up the fans?

Look at full load temps, I tend not to worry about idle temps (unless its really high!)

with a small amount of cpu usage (20-25%) temps go to 40-45 degrees?

any good programme to increase fan speeds?

Run at 100% with Prime and check the temps.

Are you overclocked at all, also how are your fans connected ?

well run 5mins on prime test and max was 67degrees, and that's at stock speeds

I don't want you to mess around with the thermal paste but how did you apply it?
And those Idle temps are fine, Ivy is a little hotter than Sandy.

it was already applied on the cooler, a very thin layer.

Well some people will say you should remove the paste and apply your own. Personally pre applied thermal has worked really well for me.

No, it should settle fairly quickly. Honestly those idle temps are fine for an air cooler and it won't take off years of your CPU.

67C seems pretty good for an air cooler on a 3570k. You should only be worried if temps hit 90C, temps shouldn't really go above 80C if you want your chip to last.

Don't worry, 67C is perfectly safe.
