Hi guys,
Just recently changed my rig for whats in my sig but i'm using my old cooler-freezer 7 pro (original). I'm using an NZXT Hush case so not great for cooling. At first i was thinking of a H50 but i also think i might just squeeze in a Prolimatech Megahalems, i'd prob do push pull on both with akasa vipers that i've been looking at which may also replace the case fans. Any opinons or suggestions would be good, my temps really aren't great at the minute (put it this way the side of the case is off and idle temps are still embarrassing to mention lol)

Thanks people

thanks for the replies guys :)
@malc30 how did you manage to get another fan on the back of it? which clips and where did they sit?

@bifday2k the cabling is very tidy and not in the way of anything. with side of case off cpu is @50, on 58 and thats at idle between 70 and 80 under load or gaming. I think the mega may just squeeze in and it'd be damn tight. I just read that the mega was better than h50 and of course some people don't get that good of results with the h50 which is why i'm not sure of which or indeed if anything else would be good. Best of it is the cpu could go much higher lol

The Mega's actually a tad smaller than the thermalrights which would be best as it is going to be tight anyway.

@bifday2k which does the few degrees favour in the way of? the h50 or mega?

Thanks bif :) i think those few degrees may count given my temps, i agree that the case isn't the best for cooling but i like the looks so i want to try all options before i consider changing it. Funny thing is my last cpu in this case (E5200) was clocked to the max and ran super cool! You recommend the vipers do you? I was looking at them for the air flow/noise despite the garish colour

Yeah true all fans are noisy at that speed.
Is the splitter the best way to go? I read a thread where it could draw to much current from the header so advised on rewiring so powered from psu but sensed via header.

Ok about the ac7, good to have some honest experienced advice. Now its decisions decisions time theres so many i like the Noctua d14 too, definitely need to get my case measurement more exact so i know if any will 100% fit.

Might get a couple of the vipers for the case tomorrow whilst i decide on the cooler

Thanks for your advice guys

Another opinion of why not to get, thanks for the honestly, my friend has a h50 and his results aren't great or even good but i had put that down to his mounting-or lack there of as well as his case and air throughput

All posts are being helpful especially from bif and it is as he says if big air won't fit then h50 is an alternative, i stand by what he says. And bif i'm still torn as to what to get, i've re-measured and my god it'll be tight like a mil at best or maybe just touching and now i'm wondering if it will cause vibration/noise. Such a pain!! The mega would clear everything else like ram and other onboard heatsinks so that's a plus i suppose.

It does have a thin foam lining on it already and if it does touch it will probably just bow the side out a tiny fraction which probably wouldn't be noticeable. I scoured the net to see what people have managed to fit in the case some say yay some say nay, to my best measurements i'd say yes, just. My lady will just tear my head off if i waste the money and it doesn't fit given that with 2 vipers your looking at over 70quid.

@bif i got the mega plus 2 vipers for it along with 2 for my case. The mega fits, top of the pipes leave a small imprint on the foam that lines the case thats all :) The temps are better, the side is on and the fan doesn't run anywhere near full speed temps haven't gone down that much but definitely enough especially under load. I'm now thinking the case doesn't have the best throughput but may change that in time think a fan controller is next. Also got a Zalman vf3000 on my 5830 which is amazing just trying to get that wired to the gpu header if i can ever find out if the current draw is ok from anyone

Yeah that's why i want a controller so i can set the limits etc as it's on performance in the bios but it hardly pushes it by any means, time to tweek some more out of the system me thinks :)

Yeah so far anywhere on the web no ones touching the current draw with a bargepole not even the manufacturer but i don't want to just do it and pop it.

I was going to pm but i presume the forum doesn't use pm as i couldn't find it?!

Thanks again you're a very helpful member
