Hey guys I'm looking to upgrade my system, I currently have an Asus p5e with a 2.5 q9300 quad and 4gb of DDR2 ocz ram with a bfg gtx 280 of gfx card. I've got a 650 corsair PSU powering it all with a few harddrives. Been out of the game a while and need some ideas for a CPU mobo and ram upgrade. I also need a case but it all has to be 250 squids or less. I play lots of games, bf3, crysis, coh, hitman, GTA etc

Thanks

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm exploring all options including and CPUs. What's the pile driver fx6 and fx4 like?

I would go for the AMD FX 6300 instead of the 4300 as it is too close priced to the 6300 and there seems to be no performance enhancements over the Bulldozer chip. The 6300 is probably AMD's best chip along with the 8320 and 8350, just go with the 6300 if you want an AMD processor.

I've been looking at benchmarkes for this chip and it looks pretty good when compared to the i3. It certainly gives it a run for it's money on various tasks

i quite like the fx spec.
must be better than a dual core surely

Debatable!

The i3 has hyper-threading which can be of great help in some programs, but useless in gaming. However, the old FX chips like mine will get trashed by the i3.

Check the comparison.

In games where the coding support no more than 2 cores which is the majority of current games then the i3 will do better.

In modern games like BF3 etc which uses modern engines then the Piledriver chip is better. The advantage the i3 has is upgrading to an i5 at a later point which will thrash the Piledriver in games.

FX-6300 can be OC to match the 3220 level on 2 core games..although now they are moving onto 4 cores so FX-6300 is the way forward I would say
