New CPU, Mobo, DDR - No boot

Hi All,

I have recently purchased the below:
* Gigabyte X99-SLI (Socket 2011)
* Intel i7-5820K 3.30GHz (Haswell-E)
* GeIL White Dragon 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C15 3200MHz Quad Channel

All other components in-scope were working previously (560ti, Enermax Galaxy PSU).

When I power on the PC, the fans spin and I see lights on the motherboard and RAM - They stay on for ~1 to 2 seconds, then it powers off for ~1 to 2 seconds then repeats...This cycle constantly repeats until I turn off the PSU, then I hear 2 beeps.

I have cycled through the 4 sticks of single DDR - No difference.

Is this a faulty CPU or Motherboard maybe? :confused:

Any advice on what I can try next?

Unfortunately I don't have any access to anyone else with a DDR4/2011 rig to test my components...Unless anyone living near Leeds is willing to assist!

Thanks in advance,
CB

Do you have the 8pin atx plugged in?

Power connectors plugged into the card?

Try clearing the CMOS.

Tried the 2 sticks, also cycled them - No luck

Yes stulid, all Power Connectors plugged-in, also tried with and without the ATX4P

Tried resetting CMOS and also a different battery as well.

I had the same recently with a Gigabyte Z97 motherboard, RMA'd it for a refund. Got a new board and it fired straight up.

If the motherboard is faulty, it can be returned under warranty and replaced. It's a shame you're outside the 14 day DOA window, but it might just mean they need to test it before they can issue a replacement - it shouldn't mean you're stuck with a broken piece of equipment.

Is the board currently in the case? Might be worth trying the board outside the case just in case it's touching something and shorting which is stopping it firing up. It is probably also worth trying pulling out each power cable and reseating it, if you haven't already, just in case it looks in but is actually not quite there.

Hope you get it sorted mate.

So tonight i got my hands on another PSU and it is the same outcome (not working.), tested outside of case too.

So it MUST be the CPU or Motherboard as even if all 4 DDR sticks were broke, it would still boot i think.

I don't know anyone with a socket 2011 Motherboard or CPU. So how do i go about figuring out which of these is not working??

+Thanks for the advice all

Sure I seen something in the bios (We have the same motherboard and CPU) where you can boot the motherboard without the CPU and RAM installed so you can update the bios to support newer CPU's or what have you, may wanna give that a try, just install GPU Motherboard and PSU and give it a try

Never knew thanks for the tip!....Just tried without the CPU and it is still not booting. guess it's a faulty Motherboard!

*edit*
Although i can't find anything on the web that states this can be done, so it could still be a faulty CPU.

RMA Failed - Both Motherboard and CPU are fine: "posting to windows and running prime 95 with no issues and 4 x 4gb sticks of ddr 4 teamgroup RAM"

Looking on here:

Am I correct in saying the Dragon RAM (GWW432GB3200C15QC) is not compatible with X99? i.e This Motherboard?

Unfortunately OcUK have already posted my motherboard and cpu back to me - Would have liked them to test with the Dragon before doing this!

Just order some more ram(a different make) test with your board when you get it back if it works keep it sell the geil.
Could be the geil needs more volts to boot than standard ram.
