New CPU Reinstall OS

i've swapped processors many times without an OS reinstall....a little box just pops up when you boot into windows and says new hardware found....installing various junk....now your new hardware is ready to use...etc...

exactly like any other plug and play device.

you would only need to reinstall windows if the motherboard is changed or ofcourse if the hard drive is changed

You can just do a direct-disk-copy (clone A>B) to get around that as well

i went from single core opteron to dual core opteron and did not need to install windows again, done loads of cpu upgrades before and never had to reinstall.

only n00bs believe that an os needs a reinstall if cpu has been changed.
