hi i have an e2180 @ 3.2 1.5v

i have just changed it to a e8200 but the pc wouldnt boot, ive changed it back to my old cpu and it boots,i think the new cpu is dead.

I just thought, as i had my old cpu overclocked, do you think that is why when i put my new cpu in, it wont boot? (monitor doesnt even come on)

Do you think if i go to default settings, then change the cpu, it might work, also is it possible that ive fried it as i had a voltage of 1.5 set

Starting to sound like a faulty cpu, is there a chance of testing it in another pc before RMA.

no chance of testing it, i brought it off ebay as a new oem for £70,he was selling 10 of them, hes had good feedback even from other people thst have brought the same cpu

u may of broken it by leaveing the voltage at 1.5v.

u should always put the settings back to auto before changing the cpu or reset the cmos before turning on

1.5V shouldn't have killed it right off though, just hurt it a little. You need high voltage at highish temperatures for some time to damage the circuitry I thought?

Reset to defaults with the old cpu, update the bios (Asus' website is fun...), put the new cpu in. Good luck
