OK so I'm looking to take my current CPU ( AMD Piledriver 6300 ) and use it to replace my Daughters CPU ( FX 4100)....So this means I'm looking to get a new one for myself and will be staying with AMD :)

Keeping AMD in mind ...any recommendations please ?

if you are really insistent on going down the AMD route, they have just released on the Richland CPU's, so would certainly recommend going down that route. Depends on what you want to use it for gaming, video editing etc and of course the most cruical aspect... budget/price :)

That's some pretty horrific advise.
Different socket, Richland's all about IGP, not CPU performance.

OP, you haven't really got any choice but the FX8320/8350, but you'll only get a performance improvement if you're using 7-8 threaded apps, or you're clocker higher than your FX6300.
