Lo all.

Bought my machine last year at the time didnt have enough money to purchase an SSD so I got a seagate barracuda instead.

I purchased an SSD last week and it arrived yesterday. My question is whats the easiest way to install the SSD with my OS on it. I will then use the barracuda just for the games.

I dont mind a fresh install of everything if necessary. I dont have much on the computer anyways I use it solely for games.

If i'm not mistaken i'd back up anything you want to keep,

check on crucial's website for a firmware update for the M4..

download and follow the instructions,

restart and reinstall windows onto the M4, when your happy format your barracuda and voila, one SSD for the OS and a regular drive for all your storage needs.

1) Unplug HDD from the PC and plug in SSD
2) Go into BIOS, change SATA mode to AHCI
3) Install Windows, drivers, programs, etc
4) Replug HDD, change documents/music/videos/downloads directory to HDD folders. Can also delete the old Windows and program folders now. Alternatively if you have everything backed up you can just format the drive.

Pardon my ignorance to Hardrives but how do you format the drive? My computer, right click and format ? Sorry this is my weakest earlier of knowledge for pc components and I think Id rather just have a complete fresh install.

That's one method but you see there will also be a 100mb partition on the drive where all the boot files were kept from the old install. So best way to do this, is click on the start button, search Disk Management, then use that to delete all partitions on the HDD. Then format a new large single partition (quick format will do) and you're ready to go.
