New CTR

I'd seen pictures of the new CTR and really liked it. Then I saw it at Excel this year......it looks like a Civic with nasty stick on Halfrauds tat stuck on it. I'm not too keen! Bet it's bloddy fast and good fun to drive though!

omg

that website is truly awful... why oh why do people insist on making such abominations.

click gallery, what do you get? a load of whizzing around thumbnails and stupid sfx.

Also, surely with the new turbocharged hot hatches I can't help but feel the civic will always be seen as "weaker"

Depends on how much it weighs, and how it handles.

Power isn't eveything. It could be an absolute weapon for all we know...

Interesting to see how it stacks up against the current CTR. I'd love to know the weight - see whether it's about the same or whether it's got lardy, like "new" cars do.

I've a friend who runs a modified Leon FR. He had a go at a breadvan CTR. He said that the extra revs of the CTR gave it a big advantage especially when changing through the gears (turbo lag).

it appears the new civic is ~ 100KG heavier than its predecessor.

Oh dear. That aint cricket is it.

Where you find that? Is it in the same website? It's a mess to navigate.

Just using parkers and looking at a collection of weights.

the old 1.6 civic sport is ~ 1140kg
the old civic R is ~ 1200kg

the new 1.8 regular vtec civic is ~ 1288kg

its by no means comprehensive but it doesn't bode well :(

can't say i get noticable lag on my celica really, feels just as smooth as the prelude did

Just found it says they've lowered the gear ratios to compensate for the extra weight so it's likely to be the same to 60mph/100mph 1/4 mile etc.

Why is all the good things being released for march next year? Ps3, Civic typeR....what next? :p

Seriously, that looks cool. I wish i have enough money for one and insurance. :(

I just can't get over the looks.

Now I know the current CTR is also subject o "bread van" remarks but that truely is horrible.

I like the fact that VTEC will kick in earlier but so does my CTR at the moment ;)

I for one will not be purchasing

What is the on the road price likely to be ?

No doubt there will end up being a bit of a waiting list. It seems that unlike a lot of people, i actually like the looks of the new Type R.

Hmm, shame it doesn't work like that in real life. Can the old Civic hit 60 in 2nd? If so and the new one can't due to lowering gearing it will hurt 0-60 times badly (not that they mean anything of course).

0 - 60 of the new one is listed a 6.6 seconds which is a good as the old one i think.

Nope, 2nd cuts at 58mph

think the current CTR does

0-60 in 6.4s
0-62 in 6.6s

the new one looks great from the front and the side but i'm not sure about the rear, especially with that spoiler blocking rear view. One thing we see on that webiste is the interior, which personally I hadn't seen yet. To be honest it looks very good & functional & I know I would just love the start button in the morning :)

Yesterday I went to test drive a 2nd hand model of the current CTR. The price is being reduced as it's old stock now, Honda dealers need to get rid of them. It's a 55 reg with 8k on the clock for £13995, it's a good deal but now I just don't know what to do :(. When I drove it , it didn't seem all that fast, but maybe it was just the impression the car gives?? Also to be honest I get a better exhaust note from my old Civic.

Will need a different car soon though.

Arrrgh, choices choices!

Fire .. :(
