A few weeks ago the near side DLR on my Yeti failed.

Went to ebay and bought a replacement bulb for £12.99.
This one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401324815990

Fitted it today (being careful, not touching the glass etc) and all worked fine, off I went. 15 minutes later I arrived where I was going, on starting the car again a few minutes later the bulb had failed again! Testing with multimeter confirms it's dead.

So, am I just unlucky to get a duff bulb - what chance the seller refunding/replacing?

Is that model of bulb just crap?

Is there something else wrong with the car causing the bulb the blow?

It's a Yeti that's what's wrong...

Jokes, try the refund and say it's a duff bulb, no bulb should blow that soon. Then pick up another one and check it's not getting too much current through using the multimeter compared to both the bulb rating and the other DRL bulb. Not really sure what to do if it is but at least it would point to the problem being the bulb or the electrics.

Quite common on my truck for a new bulb to blow almost immediately, as we aren’t allowed to change them due to H&S crap it’s done by the local Scania dealer around the corner from our yard, more than once I’ve picked the truck up from a service/whatever and driven the 1/2 mile back only to spin around and go back with a headlamp failure warning on the dashboard.

Only seems to do it the once but it’s pretty consistent, Scania have no idea why this happens on mine and many others.....

Is the bulb a cheapo replacement brand? Even if not could be a knock off I guess, or could just have been a duff one.
Either way, get a replacement and try again.

Check that the voltage is correct at the bulb connector - should be around 13.8V with the engine off. Check that the wiring to the bulb isn’t damaged or trapped. Check that the bulb holder retains the bulb securely and there are no signs of arcing on the connector. Check that the connector is a snug fit and isn’t making intermittent contact.

Thanks TB, yeah everything looks fine. They had me photo the bulb, submerge in water... then they dispatched a replacement.
