If the electric circuits in my house were the same up and down I'd buy one. I tried connecting one pair I had and couldn't get an IP address :/ Stuck on wireless..

Would be interesting to get performance numbers and the all too important reliability of these after a few weeks!

For clarity...

The single pack has 2 units in it ( 1 for next to the router and 1 for other location )
The double pack has 3 units in it ( 1 for next to the router and 2 for other locations )
?

Just realized this looks like an explanation but it's not, it's a question !

It's pointless to have this for FTTC only deliver up to 80Mbps. Any powerline with 200Mbps will be fine for FTTC.

Your average set of AV200 Powerline adapters do well to manage 50Mbps, and it's often much less.

To handle a full rate FTTC connection you're usually going to need recent models of AV500 or AV600 adapters.

Apology as it my mistake it was actually AV 500 I got. Not AV 200. I have now re-edited.

Single = one.
Twin = two.

I have AV200's on a house with good wiring.

I have just done a Crystal Disk Mark from a laptop to another PC with an SSD over the AV200's. I'm seeing 58mbps for sequential transfer, in line with what your saying above.

Only pointless if all you have is 1 pc connecting to your internet connection via these. If you have multiple pc's and want to transfer data (ie media streaming) between them in different rooms then the extra speed will be very useful.

Can someone please explain if this would be more useful than a 200Mbps device in a home environment that say has a 152Mbps top end Virgin connection?

I may have my units confused here, but is 1200Mbps overkill in a home setup? Thanks

(Unless there's a 1Gbps google fibre equivalent available here now that could utilise this?)

From my experience, you have to divide powerline adapters rated speed by 4 to get a more realistic idea of what to expect. With a 150Mbps connection you would need something rated 600Mbps+ along with gigabit ports (to get more than 100Mbps).

With Powerline (and Wi-Fi) there's a significant difference between the rated speed and the actual throughput.

AV500/AV600 adapters might handle a 152Mbps connection, but only if you're lucky with your wiring.

For a real 1Gbps connection the only option is a cable.

I'm aware that first product is SINGLE PLC card, but naming it "single PACK" (PACK) is highly confusing. Pack means usually few things packed together, so naming it "Single card" would be much, much appropriate IMO.

I've got 3x D-Link AV500 PLCs in my house and D-Link Utility says (it's raining now, maybe it matters):
* router card 2nd floor = 500 Mbps link rate (speed taken from LAN card to PLC card, so nothing to bother speed),
* PS3 card ground level = 186 Mbps
* son's card 1st floor = 60 Mbps (I need to go downstairs and see which socket did he put PLC lol)

No, pack makes perfect sense. It's not a card either.

Even if you didn't know what the words 'single' and 'double' mean, you can see from the product photos how many adapters you get.
