New Dons!

:D

I can't help but quote your sig:

;)

I know, I was more getting at the fact that its a variable percentage, based on the threads posted in the day. Hell some days its probably 70% rubbish depending on if a celebrity has died, because people assume they are the first to create a thread.

But seriously, the fact that a thread with the content purely 'I sold my personal information to a shop, now I want to sue' should probably be questioned as to whether it warrants existing. This isn't something based on personal opinion either, its just tat.

Anyway, i'll stop now as i'm probably coming across as ranting, but immediately getting a warning from an offhand comment has definitely made me stop wanting to actually contribute to threads for fear of getting banned.

Ha, I see what you did there ;)

But seriously, if moderation is getting that draconian (I know what I did wrong, but warning worthy, really?!) then maybe thread content standards should also be moderated. Simply remove the threads that lack any common sense.

I reckon 80% of threads here are useful, but at least 20% of them are pointless (including the one I got a 'warning' for).

If you know what you did wrong, why did you do it? And if you realised, why not edit it yourself?

A warning helps others to understand what is and isn't acceptable.

I would never generalise, but there are people out there who aren't as....shall we say, ready for life in the big wide world. Whilst something may seem pointless to you "spec me a bright red tie thread" for example, there are people who find it difficult in buying one. If people want to help, fine....if they don't, also fine (just don't moan about it).

Because at the time I didn't realise that a non-sweary descriptive word of a person who has made a highly stupid decision along with a stupid follow up to that decision was warning worthy.

That is now clear, and has made me question whether its worth posting in any thread ( when trying to be helpful or even just adding to a discussion) for fear of being banned.

A non-sweary descriptive often appears to be a personal attack depending on the wording of the post.

You could have phrased what you wrote in much better way, this also applies to so many posts that need to be edited/deleted. People could make the same point without being blunt/antagonistic making the forum a much friendlier place.

We all know how wild Home and Garden can get

The "disagreements" over the best power tools can rapidly turn really nasty.

I'll never forget the "my chainsaw if better than yours" argument of '09, I'm still not sure everyone got their right arms back, or the correct arms.

I'm still getting used to the edit button now in place of the quote button.

me too - Armageus :)
