'New' E-Type

Thought I'd share this one seeing as it's a pretty universally loved car!
to be built into full working cars and will literally be brand new out of the factory.

I can only imagine what the cost is going to be :eek:

My Dad used to race a lightened E-Type (see sig), but it was just a normal one lightened and modified for Modsport racing, i.e. road cars modified.

Are they actually allowed to do this? I thought if a manufacturer stopped production of a vehicle that no longer meets safety laws then they were not allowed to resume production without brining the vehicle up to spec.

Do the laws not apply if their only making a couple?

As you say I guess due to the very limited run its not classed as a production vehicle?

They are using the old unassigned chassis codes aswell. 18 planned but only 12 built, hence 6 can be made.

These will probably end up never being driven, just stuck in a museum or some rich person's garage. Such a shame

From the article I posted doesn't look like it:

Schulp said the six cars haven't yet been sold and that Jaguar was still “in discussion” with customers. However they have to fit a certain criteria before the company will sell them the car, much like Ferrari does with high-end models such as the new LaFerrari. “We’re targeting people who are going to be actively using them,” he said. “We don’t want them sitting in a museum somewhere.”

More likely to see them thrashed around Goodwood than stuck in a museum.

I was just reading about this and thought "WOW now that is a proper way to recreate a car" and a good car at that!
I lol'd at one comment about they wanted all six of them and somebody replied "Dont be greedy lol"

You know what I would be happy with just the steering wheel so I could run around making E-Type noises lol. I will never be able to own one of these things.
Also read about somebody owning two e-types back in the 70's when they were just not seen as hot property anymore. If this kinda talk was true he sold them for stupidly low amounts like £500 etc.

Crazy stuff. Oh and they were being nasty about Clarkson! flips pleaseeee do not let that tool near these six new cars!

Which years did he race modsports alx? My father also raced modsports in a variety of cars - ginettas, elans, sprites etc.
