today was the day that i turned to the darkside and installed my new E6600. :)

now that its installed whats the best programs to use to to check that its running ok? temps etc

right ok , installed both.
do these temps look at for a stock cooler?

also in the BIOS under
PC health status / smart FAN control method ,
whats the best setting to leave it on? ive got it set to "auto"

Er, why are the Vcores so different? one is at 1.12V and one is at 1.9V. Hmmmm

faulty sensor? considering apparently his -12V is at -17 and his fan is spinning at 675,000rpm it seems that way.

Yep looks good! The smart fan will adjust the fan speed depending on the temp/load. Turn this off if you plan on overclocking :)

Worth investing in a better heatsink/fan sometime, as it will reduce temps a bit more and will be quieter & allow much better overclocking, if you decide to go that route.

Nope. It's because vcore1 is the CPU and vcore2 is the memory.
The 12v and fan readings are plain borked.

Vcore 2 is actually vdimm.

thanks for the replys, i might have a go at overclocking ( never done it before ) but when i do i will be getting a different heatsink/fan.
ah so thats what the smart fan setting is for :)

Many motherboards dont even use -12 anymore, it was most commonly used for ISA expansion slots. If the board doesnt use -12v, it often wont have the sensor wired up to anything meaningfull.

Haha I felt like I was turning to the dark side last week when I got an e6600. I've had AMD for about the last 9 years. I soon forgot about th edark side when I saw how good this thing was!

if you want to check your cpu is working ok download orthos, and run the small fft test. Keep TAT open so that you can monitor temps. As for overclocking, you should still get that up to about 3Ghz on the stock cooler :D
