What is it with A LOT of people now saying where they are at that exact moment?

Is it just me that thinks that I could now go to their house and break in and steal all their **** because I know where they are at that exact moment in time?

Seems a bit daft I reckon.

I always used to find it funny when people who I knew had their own place would say "off on hols for a week" i.e. "my house is empty for a week, help yourself"

Isn't it friends only by default though?

So surely you need some new friends if they're going to nick all your stuff when you're out ;)

theres also an app now for facebook, if you sign into facebook mobile, it will take your current location and update your status saying where you are

It will only put where you are if you tell it to. You need to 'check in'.
Don't want to check in? Don't. Simples :)

I'd like to think I could leave any of my "friends" in my house on their own and not worry, that wouldn't give me the confidence to go posting my absence on the internet though, we all have friends who have friends that can't be trusted, knowledge/information is power!

It's pretty annoying tbh.

Why would I care where anyone is? If I need to find out or get in contact with someone then I'd just use a phone.

I guess it's just there to satisfy people who must write pointless updates every minute.

It's only just been activated on Facebook in the UK, has been working in the 'states for a bit.

The button has been there in the iPhone App for a few weeks, but always came up with a message saying that it wasn't available in your location.

Can't say that I intend to use it!
