New Fingertip/Claw Gaming Mouse Suggestions

I've been playing a bit of ESO and Diablo recently and think it's time to get myself a new mouse. I'm currently using a wireless Logitech MX Revolution which I've had for ages but I'm finding that it's uncomfortable after a couple of hours play due to the weight (150g) and shape which is more suited to a palm grip. The right mouse button on it is also starting to become slightly erratic.

I prefer a lighter/smaller more fingertip/claw style of mouse in general and especially when gaming. Because of that I'm contemplating going back to a wired mouse. Maybe something like the :-

Roccat Kova

Corsair M65

Razer Abyssus

Hmmm, choices..... I might wonder down to my local PC store and see if they have any on display as peripherals are the kind of thing you really need to get your hands on to see if they're comfortable. I'm erring towards the Roccat at the moment as the Corsair is a bit pricier and the Razer lacks side buttons which I use quite frequently and think I would miss. Does anyone have any other recommendations or thoughts on a mouse that would suit me?

Alternatively, are there any wireless mice which are suitably light and also worth considering?

Thanks for the recommendation guys. I'll admit Zowie is a brand I've never heard of or seem before but the mice to look like something that would suit me fairly well. It's a shame they're over £50 as that' slightly more than I wanted to spend.

May have to check out a few more reviews of them first to see.

Edit: The Zowie FK looks really nice but it's out of stock at the moment pending the release of the updated 2014 version so may have to wait if I go for that.

Ok then there's the CM Xornet which seems to be the Spawn with some minor differences. Cheaper than the Spawn too and freely available in this country.

I had a go with one and it feels really cheap, light and plasticky so I'd say spend a bit more to get a better mouse that will feel nice and last longer.

Maybe a rat 5? I understand they're a bit love or hate (I really like the ergonomic aspect of my rat7) and it's very customisable so I would say it's an option :)

I was down in PC world for a look today but I'm still struggling to make a decision! Worrying regarding the Rat5 the guy in PC World who I asked where to find the gaming mice said don't buy anything made by Madcatz which I'm guessing means they've had a high return rate for faults!

I think I'm erring towards going for the Zowie FK 2014. It is a bit pricey but it looks like what I'm after. I like my mice in an ambidextrious V shape to make them easy to pick up. The Zowie reminds me of my old Microsoft Wheel Mouse optical which I've dug out of retirement for gaming purposes and is probably the most comfortable mouse I've ever used.

Is there anything similar to the MSO/Zowie FK which would also be worth considering? Maybe a steelseries sensei?

In fact has anyone got their hands on the 2014 version of the Zowie FK yet?

You're right. Microsoft really got it right first time with the Wheel Mouse Optical and it's a design that's hard to improve on plus the build quality/finish of it's still great today despite if being a decade old!

My only gripes with it are that

1) In windows the sensitivity even at maximum is still too low. (I think there may be a driver hack or regedit to fix this though)

2) My one is the original 3 button model so lacks the side buttons (4&5) which I find invaluable for navigating through web pages and are also useful in some games.

Do Microsoft make an equivalent updated version of the WMO as the current range on their website seems to be full of nothing but small gimmicky sculpted laptop mice?

I'll give a +1 to any Roccat mouse. The "easy shift" buttons on the side of the mouse are leagues ahead of mice that have just single buttons on the side as the easy shift acts as a shift key (who would have thought that!) for every other mouse click. The software that comes with them is great as well giving you options to change colours or macros really easily.

In terms of what mouse to get, I've currently got one of the older model Kone+ mice and its fantastic. The Kone's are pretty big and weighty but they do a model called the Kone Pure which is slightly smaller and you can take the weights out of the mice easily to get it lighter.

Whilst I can't comment on the Kave I have used both the Savu - a very light weight mouse that you use the claw grip on and is nice and accurate, plus it has all your "easy-shift" nonsense - and the Roccat Pyra which is a portable smaller mouse but has all the same features of the bigger ones. I loved the pyra so much I just used it on my desktop PC as well.

+1 for Roccat all around, they make excellent mice.

I can +1 Zowie mice. Great for claw. I currently still have my Razer Imperator 4G and its perfect for claw. Not sure what the pricing of it is, but it's fairly old so I'm sure it's reasonable.

I use a fingertip/claw grip myself and am currently using a Corsair M65, which I quite rate. Of the few mice I've owned (MS Intellimouse, Razer Diamondback, Logitech G9), it comes second to the G9, but that's no longer available.

I'm looking forward to the G502 being released in the UK though as I've heard it's pretty good for a claw grip.

I've managed to get a Razer Deathadder 2013 cheaply so I'm gonna give that a try and see how I get on. I'm not sure how effective it will be with a claw style grip but the ergonomics of it seem pretty good. If it doesn't work out after a month of use I'll raid the piggy bank and order the Zowie FK!

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Jus to update this thread I've actually returned my Razer Deathadder as I found it pretty uncomfortable even after only a couple of days use. The mouse itself just feels too big and the arch is too high. My forearm and wrist were sore after using it for only a couple of hours TBH.

Gone back to my Logitech MX Revolution for now so the hunt for the perfect mouse, for me, continues.......! I'll probably try out the Zowie FK if I can pick one up one sale or 2nd hand. Reluctant to spend £50+ on a wired mouse TBH!

Steelseries Sensei RAW is the carbon copy of the Zowie, I use the fingertip mouse movement & its really good as the mouse is light, low & on the smaller size so your back of your parm won't touch the back !

There's loads out there at are around £35+, in different colours & branded ones, you can have a look close up from an local large branded PC store ?

The Steelseries Sensei looked nice and reminded me of my old MS Wheel Mouse Optical which was probably the best mouse I've ever owned!

My only gripe regarding it was again the £60 price tag for the rubberised version. Maybe I need to just pony up the cash and stop being a skinflint :D
