as someone who is a futurist, and tends to be a good 5 years ahead of the curve I am not a fan of physical money. That said, I have reluctantly mellowed in my old age and understand that the majority still require coins and paper currency to function. Based on that, I quite like it for what it is.
I couldn't give two ****s about the design, but I'm glad they're moving to plastic. Paper notes are so archaic and end up falling to bits. You're lucky if one in five notes works in a vending machine.
Although I have found myself using nothing but debit card lately.. however vending machines don't often take those

Yes, but even more flexible than that, it's not far off the old style notes in terms of flexibility so there's no problem folding them and putting them in your wallet and they don't crumple like paper notes so you don't need to unfold corners and such like that get folded over by accident.
I generally keep one note in my wallet, normally a tenner but most of the time I'm paying by contactless either through my phone or watch. I rather like the look of these new notes and I've felt the plastic ones before in Scotland so it's not completely new to me.
Hardly ever carry cash anymore. Even spending a couple of quid on a coffee is a contactless affair.
It's not a bad design though for the luddites amongst us I suppose
