New five pound note

Finally we join the plastic revolution are there any see through parts on this i like that feature in the Australian money I've handled.

as someone who is a futurist, and tends to be a good 5 years ahead of the curve I am not a fan of physical money. That said, I have reluctantly mellowed in my old age and understand that the majority still require coins and paper currency to function. Based on that, I quite like it for what it is.

Pmsl! :D Not sure serious or troll!

I do not if I can use bank cards at all, everything is cash with me.

I know a lot of self employed and its cash or its not happening.
Funny how these so called futuristic out looking people think cash will go away.
It never will so deal with it. ;)

Cash is king. :)

Cash is archaic, never carry any.

It's still extremely useful, and the one payment method that is almost always guaranteed to work under any conditions where the store doesn't have to shut.

I've been in my local Tesco when the card payment systems in store failed, that was mildly amusing.
Fortunately the cash machines nearby were still working, so people were at least able to leave the trolley pop across the road and withdraw some archaic method of payment.

I don't carry much cash, but always have some, in part because it is a backup payment method - the banks systems are not infallible *waves at HSBC*, and in store systems are even more likely to fail.

Now when are they going to do away with 1p's and 2p's? I don't even keep them anymore! Smallest currency should be 5p :P

Charities are utterly dependent on 1's and 2 P's. Remove those coinages from circulation and many charities would die.

I never spend coppers, but they always end up in the local charity boxes.

This means that, oh I dont know, 1% of my cash expenditure actually ends up with my local charities.

Again, yet another reason NOT to get rid of cash!

I may be happy to put my useless loose change into the box every time I shop, but I am never going to commit to a regular monthly subscription

I forgot to say, I like the idea of the new notes being plastic and hopefully lasting longer in circulation.

Fivers are my preferred denomination when I go to things like model shows as often I'm looking at figures that cost around a fiver or so and anything larger either results in a lot of coins in my pocked or the seller having problems making change towards the end of the day.
