With only 2 dimm slots on that Mini ITX board, you really restricting yourself having no extra slots for a further upgrade.

I use a Gigabyte Matx with 32gb of memory with MS FSX, started of with 16gb, but decided to add more, certainly made the sim more fluent, but I do run a load of extras.

Looking to upgrade the Gigabyte board with another matx board,a Asrock Fatal1ty Z77 Professional-M in a few months.

I run a similar setup as OP except SG05 case with i5 2500k. GTX 560Ti and ASROCK z77e. Watercooled with a CoolIT ALC to 4.7GHz. Runs X-Plane, FSX, MS Flight, Flightgear very well. I went mITX for the power to perf being so damnn good and with latest mITX boards we can tweak as much as those monster ATX boards can.

16GB RAM is more than enough - 8GB is enough even now, TBH. Enjoy speccing up your new machine!

I've already got the case - so its only mini-itx which also restricts the max ram to 16GB

FSX prefers nvidia cards to AMD and going to be running 3 x 24" Dell UltraSharp U2412M (1920 x 1200).

Plextor M5 Pro Xtreme 256GB SSD should give Samsung 840 Pro a run for its money (£35 less).

Only thing I need to nail is 8 or 16GB RAM and what spec it should be.

not quite true tbh, amd cards now work just as well in the flight sims, after sp1 and now sp2 both amd cards and multi core cpu's are fully supported
