Wont happen imho.

The ST brand is the top of Fords marketing and lineup right now.

The last Focus RS was the last RS they will produce.

they would never make the rs with 2 wd as in the article.

With my st i can get the 330 wolf race mod and get a quaife ltd slip added, all for less that the price of the rs. And in Ireland 5k sterling will mean 15000 - 20000 euro more, so no thanks

Article is rubbish as they made a schoolboy error in the pictures, if you go to the gallery it has one of the front and one of the back. The picture from the front you can see the spoiler about midway down the car like the focus rally car, but then the picture from the rear has the spoiler at the top...

Didn't Ford make a massive loss on each of the last Focus RS when taking R&D into consideration etc.

Maybe, but if Autocar's assumptions are true, this will cost virtually nothing to produce. Tweak engine for +65hp (Very easy on such a lightly tuned 2.5 turbo), add LSD, swap the springs, shocks and ARBs for uprated versions and you have 1 Focus RS. Would cost Ford little over a normal ST to produce.

About time..

I know FWD isn't as ideal a format as it could be, but I was nothing short of impressed when driving the old Focus RS.. so this one should be great, and being honest the ST was a bit underpowered, it needs the RS to be king of the hill again.. although I dare say the price will be daft..

It's hot, but it's not RS hot (but neither was the last one I guess), it sounds like just an uprated ST using many parts that are already available. Maybe it'll be something like the RST. There used to be serveral varients of the Golf GTi, why wouldn't Ford do the same? I don't think this is an RS.
