new freezer 7 pro - weird, temps are same as before when idle

the QX6700's run very hot, for an ACF7 50 idle is about normal for any quad

thanks for your post. nice to know it is running as expected.

What do you expect from a budget cooler trying to cool 4 cores??

Guys I think you want too much from the AC7. It's a good little cooler for the price but demanding temps lower then 65C~ with a quad core is ridiculous. Get a decent cooler for the cpu that you spent so much money on then you'll see temps around 50-55C load.

don't think i didn't want to, but scythe ninja or tuniq tower won't fit in my case. would foul the internal fan door of my stacker 832.

Hehe :D

I don't think its good enough for dual-cores myself but I can see its appeal from a first-time-buyers point of view, its quite big and its cheap!

I remember back in 2003 when I was building my *Uber* Barton 2500+ system I bought an Aero 7 LITE :o

It was the Arctic Freezer 7/64 Pro of its time, cheap, big and was *LOUD* when running at full whack which you had to because if you turned down the fans rpms the overclocked CPU started overheating.

Eventually I picked up a nice Thermalright cooler and then I realised my mistake.

Two things come to mind when I see people buying the Arctic coolers

1) Buy Cheap, buy Dear

2) If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys

anyone thinking of buying one of these things, do yourself a favour and keep saving for a decent HSF, trust me, I'm an overclocker! :p

My QX6700 idles at around 50C with the Freezer, and up to 68C under full load. That's normal. The Freezer is perfectly fine for quad cores at stock volts up to 3GHz in my opinion.
