Hey all,

A friend just let me know he wants a new gaming rig with a triple monitor set up. Budget is between £2k-£2.5k.

Case wise would prefer a quiet good looking one. I am thinking this?

Everything is open for suggestions, so feel free to spec away. If going for a windowed case, a colour themed spec would be sweet. :) Needs a new keyboard/hdd/ssd/case.

Doesn't need a mouse/OS/cd drive!

What's the deal with all the massive budget builds recently :D

Monitors included in the price? I guess so

Should be quiet enough, though I'm not sure the two Ti's would be able to drive the three 144Hz monitors? If so, get three 60Hz/120Hz monitors

Hang on, scrap mine a bit - didn't include peripherals/SSD/HDD

Niiiiiiice, whack some braided cables in, and perhaps pay extra for the 1200W free PSU w/ the Sapphire 295x2 and resell for profit

Well he wants quiet so I dont think he is bothered by aesthetics. I've changed the case, but not happy with it!!

White/black/orange theme. Best 34" monitor around. Its price would cover three monitors if your friend wants, but I prefer a single large one to three monitors (like Snips it seems) and you said everything up for discussion. 2 x 280X already give good performance on that monitor. So 2 x 290 would be great, especially those Sapphire Tri-X OC's.

Hue module for case lighting and special effects.

Braided cables include enough to power the Hue module, DVD (if you will use it), SSD and HDD and for data transmission to/from these (Hue doesn't require data just power). Plus the bits for the GPUs and mobo headers stuff.

That BenQ is a lovely monitor, but just a warning - its bottom bezel sticks out and that makes it impossible to line them up at angles (as in Eyefinity) without visible cracks between them.

Ohh thanks for the heads up, the tiny side bezel is why I picked them, so they would go side to side without looking horrid :<

Yeah the very slim side bezels on them are great. If any monitor manufacturers read this - bottom bezels sticking out a bit looks nice but please have the edges cut at an angle to allow placing multi-monitors together without cracks.

That would be nice. I have some ancient Ultrasharps in NVIDIA Surround, and there may as well be a foot of bezel in-between them. :p

Friend is saying he thinks an i7 is a waste of cash, and while he can hit 2k-2.5k he doesn't want to unless he is getting good value for money >.<

Also, don't suppose anyone knows any sites that run gpu benchs for eyefinity? I know anandtech has large res in most of their high end gpu test, but not quite the res of an eyefinity :)

An i7 is definitely not a waste with a dual GPU setup, I'd always go for an i7 with a high power pair of GPU's like that

As said above the i7 isn't a waste when going multi GPU or even multi display for that matter. Your friend will more then likely being doing both so 100% worth the money for an i7.

If it were a single gpu, single screen 1080p rig id agree but at this level the i7 is well worth it.
