New Gaming Build Help Needed

I'll have to look into that, its all new to me the PC building game in this day and age, last time I had a gaming PC wifi didnt exist, and the only way to do it was a wire from telephone socket to modem to mobo.

Cant wait to get it all up and running and underway now.

I'm guessing cat5 cable and connectors isnt going to cost me much? I may pick some up tomorrow on my travels from NO COMPETITOR MENTIONING! as I have to pop to town.

Don't mention evil competitors.......we are not alone ;)

I have had a reel for ages. Made the LAN cables I needed, use some more to rewire my phone extensions to every room in the house.......this eliminated the noise on the ADSL line for internet. I don't know what length you need so you will have to weigh up the pros and cons

straightline distance from hub to tower location is probably 9 feet, so im guessing by the time i gone under, over, around doors and beds and tv stands and dogs and everything else in my path, I'll need 15 foot of the stuff.

and yes they are evil, im sure their level of customer service is nowhere near as good as OCuk's, hence this is where I am spending my money. unless i can get the cable from OC then I shall hold fire and order it with my system next week hopefully.

Thanks a lot Sparx, just solved my networking issues. Just got to hope they have everything in stock for me when I can order it all.

Out of all the forums I've ever joined this one is by far the most helpfull for the reason I joined it unlike most other for my motoring troubles etc.

Cant wait to come and bug you all when I have it all in one piece and am firing it up for the first time to ask what the hell to do then. Safe to say the laptop will be on my lap as someone goes through it with me step by step as I will be clueless..

I might have to give them a shout about my Ibiza if they can tell me how to get that thing boosting as it should then they really are miracle workers :D

Prefer "Rice Burners" myself ;)

I'm not that familar with european manufacturers but I do think the Ibiza shares a lot of parts with the VW Polo and Golf, as an owner you would know more than me.

I do have access to the Autodata software which highlights known issues with cars, diagnostic codes, belt diagrams and tightening torques, est. repair times etc etc. does come in handy I must confess

*Adult humour* Just think yourself fortunate that all your kids grow up to look as handsome as me ;)

My stepdad had a Toyota Supra when I was starting secondary school, that's probably the start of my love affair with motors from the land of the rising sun. I was raised pretty much in a workshop, you pick things up being a tea boy for years lol These days I do more with the I.T and diagnostic tools but I still seem to be making the tea at 30 years of age ;)

2 sugars please :p

I'll take my tea strong with 3 sugars whilst your there ;)

Ibiza wise everything of the car is VAG components, it all came from the efficient germans... shame the toe rag before me didnt look after it, hence the police took it off him, hence I bought it cheaply off the police.

Been watching a couple of "how to" vids on the net today about how to build my pc when i get it all, looks so simple, hope it goes as smoothly for me as it did for the guy who I was watching.

One thing I did notice though is that the hard drive and DVD-RW that he used did not come supplied with SATA cables and he also used a Gigabyte mobo, although it was an older model than my intended purchase, the mobo only came with 2x SATA cables, will this be the case with my intended bundle or will I need to order an extra one as I will have the SSD and the Seagate HD aswell as my DVD-RW???

The mobo comes with 2x SATA cables typically like you said, OEM products don't come with cables usually.

To be safe I would add in 1 or 2 SATA cables to your basket when ordering, something like these.

For the sake of a few pound I'll play it safe, think im deffinately going to need at least 1 for my build.

Just having a browse through cases to see if there are any which stand out but I do like the shinobi one that Hono linked but I like the white version, are there any that you recommend off the top of your head, must be black or white or a mix of the 2 so that it matches the room it's going to be living in.
