New gaming build

Hi all,

Quite undecided as of yet but looking for a new gaming system unsure if I should build this myself dont know if I would have enough experience too or not or order from here or I've been recommended cyberpower / pc specialist but know nothing about them.

I've previously had a pre built system from Overclockers.

My budget would be between £2000-£3000 to include a monitor also. I would prefer for the system to be intel / nvidia based if possible.

Cases wise I was looking at this

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/thermaltake-the-tower-900-super-tower-showcase-white-ca-18g-tt.html

Any other recommendations on cases?

Thanks for all your help greatly appreciated,

Robert.

if you're looking at a prebuilt with that budget, it's best to give overclockers a call and see what they can do for you.
then compare the specs with cyberpower/pcs
and see which one you like best and get it.

Yea I will do thing is I've never heard of the latter I know that Overclockers builds are quality to be honest.

I would like to build my own don't know if I'd have the knowledge to do that and make everything as neat as I'd like too.

Or going custom and having OCUK build it to a shopping list - Gigabyte (better board and warranty )
Zotac GPU

Add £100 for them to build it with collection warranty

I like the look of that custom build deff something I was thinking along the lines of I just wasn't sure on the reliability of brands these days. In terms of a PSU what would you recommend for that build?

I didn't realise I could go with custom and having OCUK to build it. Do they also provide Overclocking for custom builds too?

Just a heads up, them 20 series cards run hot and i mean hot.
I have an msi 2070 gaming z and even though i have massive air cooling the pc case is like an oven.

Its fantastic in the cold for warming up a room.

Personally i would go for a 10 series :)

Would the 2080 ti not be a lot better choice spec wise over the 10 series I seen they are getting expensive due to being discontinued?

Anyone else have any other suggestions to a build inc a monitor looking for the best 4k system for between 2-3000k OCUK team will be building/overclocking once I get the build sorted.

going 4k, you go 2080ti - least then have option to run 1080 Ray Tracing for games such as BFV and still hit 60 fps

as for monitors, depends on your budget .

two 4k screens that arent G-sync but nice and large ! personally wouldn't touch anything under 30" for 4k - normally means you have to upscale everything to read text and pixels can be to small to detect , thus looking more like 1440p

might be worth looking into ultra wide for g-sync tech. 1440p ultra wide and 100hz refresh rate

What do you think of this one in comparsion? Not sure about the mobo on it to be fair but seems a good price

That Kinetic pc also has a pretty poor psu for the spec. I am going to assume it is a lower end Kolink unit as it just states '600W Bronze rated'.

I would say that the spec orbital posted is better even if you swapped out the 2080 ti for the 2080. Might work out slightly more, but you are getting better quality components overall.

good price , ask for Formula 650W PSU at the least ! entry tier 1 level PSU .
mobo in that is Gigabyte z390 so is a cut above 60% of other z390/370 boards .

ditch the wifi unit as its NOT AC standand. ask to bump up to Aorus wifi board or select a better 1300 AC wifi card

matching that above pre-build with list- either self built or OCUK building for extra £50-100 ontop - does show its a good deal but upgrade PSU if its kolink budget

@Rabbie1

I'd go Corsair case.

Would personally go 9700k instead of 9900k to save a little case.
If your able to push Gigabyte Gaming for 4 year full UK warranty if self building. If getting OCUK just go zotac as it'll come under the generic 3 year warranty . Zotac does have 5 but not sure if last 2 are under Hong Kong still.

Thermal grizzly paste ! Non metal about £4

@orbitalwalsh

I have went with the Corsair case personally dont fancy all that glass with cleaning and I dont think it would be a good thing for heat either.

Do you think I'd need any additonal cooling for this case or would you recommend another above this case?

It'll be Overclockers I think building this as think it would be an expensive gamble for myself plus I wouldn't be overclocking it. Have sent them the spec list in the previous post including the corsair case.

Hadn't thought about thermal paste as of yet I can surely includ that within the next email.

In terms of this spec list do you think its the best for the money that I could possibly go far can't really stretch it much more as I'll now have the monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers to buy next.

@[OcUK]PREDATOR

I will have a look at this pal. In terms of the rest of the build what do you think?

So much has changdd since a last even had a windows pc as I have been using a MacBook for graphic/web design the last few years.

@Rabbie1 With a PC, its always down to Budget and Personal Preferences.

The build you have there looks fine to me. The beauty with a PC is that you can always add to your build over time.
A note about using the RTX 2080Ti - At the moment, there are only a small number of games which actually take advantage of the Ray Tracing Technology that the card offers.
However, this years new releases will start to bring out the best in these Cards.

I still run 1080Ti's but thats because i'm too stubborn to upgrade my cards yet :p

^^^above unit is good. only downside is 5 yr warranty vs 10 but again no sure how shop-list Built by OCUK work with warranty - technically should be covered by their 3 year collect and repair service but then also the parts them selves after the 3 year as you've 'paid' for them via a list and not config. of course means you'd have to take the item out yourself and raise rma/post the item to ocuk

@orbitalwalsh

I will enquire with OcUK about the warranties once I hear back from them emailed them earlier today to see about the build and overclocking it.

I was thinking about swapping out the ram and cooler to the below for a bit of added RGB whats your thoughts on these?

And in terms of the case would any added fans or cooling etc need added or would it be suffiecient as the build is?
