I'm looking at getting a new cpu mobo bundle deal with a budget of £480 to upgrade my current system.
I'm torn between the i5 4690k and the i7 4790k, the system will be mostly for gaming.

I know that there's not a great deal of difference between the 2 at the moment in terms af gaming frame rates and so on, as not many games utilise more then 4 cores. Are we going to see games utilise hyper threading in the next 2 year to warrant buying the I7 over the i5?

Ah, so you require RAM also?

Gigabyte have the best warranty and support in the UK out of all motherboard manufacturers, hence the Gigabyte boards I chose :)

What OS are you going to/currently running, and what case do you have? The H100i is quite a pain with Win8(.1) as the Corsair Link software isn't great on Win8, so a H105, CoolerMaster 240M, Antec 1250 etc or good air cooler would be a better bet

I don't abolulaty need ram but faster ram would be cool, as mines 1600mhz.

Hmm, may be an idea to keep that, no massive performance benefit if getting a 2400Mhz kit to outweigh the cost

What exact RAM kit is it? Also what case do you have?

Usually if you have to ask yourself "Should I get the i7 instead?" you probably don't need it. It's just cool to have in the event that the extra power helps. If you plan on using the computer for gaming and general 90% of the time it's probably wiser to get the i5.
