Hi guys

Im looking for a gaming laptop for the higher end spectrum of gaming, also will be running some 3D modelling for uni and rendering.

I found this for just under £1.4k

ASUS G752VY-T7049T
  • Intel Core i7-6820HK Quad Core Processor
  • 17.3" Full HD Screen
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • 32GB DDR4 RAM
  • 512GB SSD + 1000GB HDD
  • Blu-Ray
  • Dedicated GeForce GTX 980M 8GB Graphics
Any other opinions for a better deal or a better specs laptop are highly apprieciated

Thanks :)

Just got the same one 1 week ago u get bag mouse and headset free u will need to update bios too 303 as gpu overheats on extreme fallout 4 cpu is 75c but this is my first gaming laptop hated laptops but I'm a convert I did the same best deal out there it's a Beast

It's a lot of money for a 980M machine. You can get a i7 7700, GTX 1070, g-Sync Clevo based Medion machine for just over £1300 which will have considerably better performance.

Im lucky i have a gaming wife got mine as a gift and yeah it is but good if your looking for a laptop i have a main asus rog pc i7.3k in the from room 27ich sync and a 1070 airboss 4 going to change mobo cpu next to the rog impact board but tbh before i got the laptop i hated laptops but im a convert still using my g410 though but as laptops go its good

Thanks for all the replies I settled for this one due to ASUS 2 year warranty and 32gb ram as the 980m will be more than enough + 8gb memory will be useful too

I’ll definitely do that and yeah got the same deal with bag and mouse and headset. Reduced from 2k it’s a good deal and the laptop is an absolute machine. Cheers

The medion uses the Clevo chassis and has fantastic build quality tbh far better than the Asus. It's also quite a bit more than 2fps comparing the 1070 to the 980m it's nearly twice the performance a single 1070 outperforms 980m SLi in most cases so a tad more than marginal. All for £100 less than the outdated Asus too....

But if your happy... :)

I had a G752VY when they came out and it was a great machine then but now it's a tad dated compared to what is available now for similar or even less money.

I’ve seen that price in the high street but how are they able to offer it for that less when other 1070s by the same company are £1899 or so? Seems a bit weird almost like an error or something.

It's a great price. I had one for review a few months back and it's a very nice machine. It also has dual M.2 slots and dual 2.5" sata ports so the ability to add 4 drives......

OK let me throw this one at you. For the same price as that Medion, I was veering toward HP Omen but instead of a 1070, it's a 1060 but with a 120Hz Gsync screen. So 1070 or 1060 with 120Hz Gsync? :p

I have an Omen 15 with that setup at the moment i7 7700, 6GB 1060. It's a cracking machine really impressed with it. The medion is a 75Hz screen and not as good as the Omens but still a decent IPS screen. Hard choice the 1060 will happily handle everything at 1080p but the 1070 offers quite a bit more. The Omen 1060 is also a Max Q version so lower clocks but also much lower temps.

If they are the same price I would go with the medion just because you are getting more GPU for the money the screen can always be replaced later on if you wanted 120Hz.

I’d rather get a marginally lower spec graphics card and get excellent build quality than get some low quality plastic medion just to get extra 2fps

I went from a 980M to the 1070.

As already stated Clevo machines are great quality bespoke machines sold by many boutique brands.

Being a snob and claiming you'd rather have 2 year warranty on a non upgradable notebook than a machine with the latest generation of hardware and circa twice the performance seems a little odd as they are basically the same price.
