I'm planning on building a new pc come september , It has been awhile since I built my last pc but its getting a bit old now (5 years ago.)

My budget is in the range of 1500-2k pounds. I will mostly be using my pc for gaming and a bit of CAD design as the Uni's pc's are just horrible and the odd film watching. I will be overclocking the pc no question about it. I'm not hugely fussed if Its AMD/Nvidia.A SSD as main drive is a must with secondary drives. I would like this to include a screen but I'm torn between the idea of either 2 screens(1x1440,1x120hz) or 1 larger screen(4k), I would like some feedback on this as I know input lag is a issue with some of them. I would also like this to include mouse and keyboard.

If this is in the wrong place , please move it thanks.

I would have thought something similar to this

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-053-OG&groupid=43&catid=2475&subcat=2602

With two 290s would happily run everything you through at it.

Obviously could spec/build the system yourself but essentially that's what you'd be looking at tower wise.

4K monitors are in their early stages so aren't fully matured yet. If your into gaming then a 120/140Hz monitor really is a good place to start. The smoothness and fluidity of games is much nicer compared to 60Hz panels. You'd also need some serious GPU power to run a 4K monitor which would add to the cost.

What kind of CAD design would you be doing. I think 16GB is a minimum at least, and a widescreen monitor would be epic!
I also believe that rendering in CAD can be CUDA accelerated if you were doing CAD 3D/2D rendering? Therefore you want an nvidia card

However JamesM ^ makes good points, a 120/144Hz monitor would also be excellent, and I agree with the 4K monitor points too :)

Will the PC be in a visible place? If so, you could add a nice bit of bling such as LEDs and braided cables

Up to you if you want bling bling then - would you prefer one of the massive widescreen monitors or two 1080p/1440p monitors? 4K is hard to run decently atm in games etc without 2+ GPUs

I actually quite like that 29" Ultra widescreen monitor, So I'm thinking that for my main screen ie cad/films and a 1080p 120/144hz for gaming. I should be able to add a bit extra to my budget as the build will be doing me for the next 4 years or so.

It's definitely not a refined spec, but it gives you an idea of what you could get

The SLI would be useful for gaming, but not for the CAD work
