Due to the design of my bucket seat computer chair from a certain high street catolgue store, I've never been completely happy with the height of the sliding keyboard shelf. When browsing round the web, I find the shelf a few inches higher than ideal, as there is less than 90 degrees between my upper and lower arm.

It seems like that websites of well known catolgue and office stores have an unwritten law about giving detailed dimensions, especially when said desk has sliding shelves and hutches (monitor shelves)!

Dimension wise, I'm looking for somthing around:-
60cm high to keyboard shelf
80cm high to main worktop (to hook up my Driving Force Pro wheel, giving me full access to keyboard)
85-90cm to monitor shelf/hutch (able to take 24" lcd)
80cm+ wide
40cm+ deep

If the desk is wooden or has a wood effect, beech is preferable! A standard desk is preferred to a corner desk. Budget wise, less than £100 ideally...

Any reccomendations, please?

I ditched the sliding keyboard shelf years ago, the movement, the rattling, the crap support. Put it on the desk and raise your chair height :)

I've always struggled for leg room, i kinda sit side on. Ideally i'd have what i have at work where i'm typing from now, kinda curves around you and is low at elbow height. Where to get them, i don't know, but if you ahve a ski mask and a transit van, we'll go for a pillage.

My basic "reccy" on desk research seems to suggest that the standard height for the main worktop is 70-75cm, which is too high for me and my very comfortable bucket-seat style "managers chair." The chair height is adjustable, but the piston only covers a small range, resulting in the ideal need for a keyboard/mouse shelf no higher than 65cm.

I *might* be able to play with the hideaway pc station I'm using currently, as I discovered this morning that the sliding keyboard shelf is effectly wedged snugly between four screwed in bits of plastic, roughly the size of fruit pastles!

To me, it just seems bizarre/illogical for companies to pitch their desk range without stating height to sliding shelf/ height to main shelf/ height to monitor hutch etc. :/

My leather chair also doesn't go very high and as my desk is rectangular and my monitor is in the corner of the desk (as it isn't deep enough) i have to sit at an angle. Not good for the old neck im sure.

I've never seen low desks though, my work one being the lowest i've seen, but again no good for a comfy chair. You'll have to make do heh.

you can get articulated keyboard arms, that fit to bottom of your desk, and allow you to have your keyboard basically on your lap, quite pricey though
