Hi all. im looking to get a new pc(no monitor required) ive got around £500 to spend and im just wondering whats the best i can get for that. Im mostly interested in using it for online gaming such as BF2142. Can anyone recommend me a pc? either for all the components i need to build one or a ready made one. thanx

Yeah that spec looks pretty spot on to me.

You can always look at a triple core processor if you can find a bit more budget and think you might use applications that would benefit from more than a dual core.

if you can go £20 more go for a cossair psu deffinatly. much better. and a dodgy psu can damage other parts if it bolws up

Why? That is a very good case for the money and spending more would mean sacrificing on components.

Also an aftermarket is only required if looking to overclock.

That spec is pretty much spot on for gaming, if you use programs that will benefit with more cores then by all means spend the extra for the 955 or 720 but as it stands that's the best bang per buck gaming pc i would believe.

The tri-core..

What does it matter if it has in build video.? He wont be using it, Its cheap, does the job and in budget.

Why do you always correct me with speccing another board and ddr2 ram.?

AM3 and DDR3 is the way forward.....

There's no such thing as a good case for your money. It either keeps your pc cool or it doesn't.

You do talk unhelpful rubbish don't you.

His components aren't suddenly going to superheat and melt if you put them in that case. Cases have other purposes as well you know - like stopping you tripping over hardrives scattered all over the floor. That case is solid, reasonably quiet, easy to work in and costs less than £30.

You have yet to make an actual positive alternative suggestion in this thread just tried to spend other peoples money without even seeing if it would benefit them.

Bit harsh.? :o:rolleyes:

because there's no improvement going ddr3 in this spec. There's not much improvement with ddr3 at all at the moment.

and the motherboard im suggesting is cooler, better for overclocking and cheaper than yours :)

Meh. what if he wants to go ddr3 later on.? he is going to have to buy a new motherboard :)

Not really. It was a pretty daft thing to say.

If his original post had said something along the lines of "If you want to overclock then you will probably need an aftermarket cpu cooler and maybe consider a case with better coolling - such as this (XXXX) then I would have no problem. That would have been a constructive helpful comment.
