Hi there

LG have released a new range of monitors which to be frank are excellent value for money and as a bonus they also support Adaptive Sync (FREESYNC), but of course work on both NVIDIA and AMD cards, but Adaptive Sync right now is only supported by AMD products.

The value for money with these screens is off the scale which I think most will agree:

Remember 34UM95? It opened up a whole new possibility that a wide-view display is not just as good as the other monitors, but even better. But what about for gaming? If the games have evolved to give you better feel of reality, monitor that fit such enhanced reality is and will continue to be 21:9 aspect large display.

UltraWide means immersion. And our UltraWide 21:9 means Ultra-immersive field of view. LG's 21:9 ratio is nothing like you've experienced before, especially compared to that of your past 16:9 monitor era. The wider screen does not just mean 'wider' screen space in gaming. It widens your choice of attack moves as this new 'standard' ratio will reveal more actions on the offensive line. You still play games with 16:9 monitor and hope for a win? Think again.

Enjoy your games with the package of the latest tech features - IPS, 21:9 UltraWide FOV, and over 99% sRGB colour space. Now has come the time to enhance immersion and performance altogether. Go and win in the reality presented through its dynamic and dazzling picture qualities, while others without it have neither such pleasure nor our kind of win rate, especially in graphic-heavy games.

Input lag often determines the winner, and rightly so. So, what has LG done about it? The Dynamic Action Sync mode in UM57 does away with such frustrations and allows you to instantly attack the opponent without delay especially while playing RTS games. What it ultimately offers is the synchronization of your senses with scenes- a must performance requisite for playing a fast-paced game.

21:9 UltraWide is definitely in for more and more game scenes, and for good. As popular demand for 21:9 UltraWide monitor is permanent trend nowadays, game companies are designing games to support the 21:9 aspect ratio. Flawless Widescreen will skillfully fit your once-16:9 games into 21:9 frame.

Black Stabilizer gives gamers full visibility, even in deep-dark scenes. It automatically senses the darkest side and makes it brighter so that you can find the enemies hiding and waiting to attack you in the dark and vice versa, by toning down flash bang attacks that can be menacing for FPS game players.

Pragmatic and convenient features like 4-Screen Split mode gives you the best space allocation option, so you do not have to do that 'aligning' the edges of windows. But coolest feature of all is Dual Link and Dual Controller. Let us say you have to work with both Mac and PC. Imagine using just one mouse to transfer a file from Mac to PC by dragging that icon across the border of Dual Link screen split. Just take a look at the practical application of all these productivity features shown here. You can how the screen real estate is effectively utilized while a person is playing a game, while video-recording it and doing the edits that requires quite a width to view the frames and cuts.

LG noticed that some of the gamers who play on UM57 often found themselves spending much more time than before as UM57 breathed life into their virtual race and battles. As we recognized FlickerFree feature is crucial for protecting your eyes from long hours of monitor gazing, we made sure UM57 is rigorously tested to keep its Flicker elimination function in check and a hot click away. (LG's "Flicker Safe" is always on to reduce the flicker level to almost zero.) So, feel the relief- your eyes are safe from working, gaming, or watching movies.

The 4k model is absolutely cracking value for an IPS 4k monitor alone, but the fact this also has FREESYNC support makes it great choice for those with a 390/Fury graphics card. :)

I could have put money on this happening after I got a nice new LG 24MP57VQ to replace my old 1680x1050 samsung. Maybe dual screen time.....

Widescreen IPS Freesync for less that £200? Damn that's good pricing... oh it only has 2x HDMI. Close but no cigar (DP ftw!). The 34" Model is where it's at... though from the looks of it, just adding a DisplayPort and 9 more inches (and what looks like a thinner bezel) onto the size doubles the manufacture cost of the monitor?

Of course that 4K monitor is the best deal and the best I/O of the bunch. None of these mention refresh rate, which is kinda important with FreeSync. Am I right to assume 60Hz? Also no mention of audio pass-through, I assume it's not a feature on these monitors? It would be troublesome if connecting a HDMI device that also sends audio through the HDMI, like a console. Not that a console could run at these resolutions (it would likely be scaled on the 4k).

Very nice and tempting with those prices, but would the pixel density on the 34 be poor? and would the 29 be too small for superwide?

Yes I'd assume 60Hz for sure and with a 4k monitor it works well as I suspect the FREESYNC range will be 30ish Hertz to 60Hz, so on 4k it should help a lot. :)

I thought DP was required for FreeSync, had no idea that it could now be implemented over HDMI - nice! Odd that only the 4K monitor lists FreeSync in it's blurb, would've expected the others to at least mention it somewhere (other than the title and in the list of specs) when they make a point of mentioning all the other features.

Some very tempting prices there, the entry level 25" especially. The 4K screen is just the spec I was looking for recently, shame it's not a slightly more elegant looking screen but you can't be too picky for that price I suppose.

As a couple of other people have mentioned though, what's the deal with Freesync support on those screens if they only have HDMI and no Display Port?

I like the looks of the 4k to be honest as it looks like a monitor and well built. I am not into very TV lookalike monitors with glossy plastic bezels.

The range of these is key info for sure.

There seems to be more Freesync around these days. Not surprising given the silly premium G-Sync has. Wonder if that's a sign of things to come, or if Nvidia will have to drop the price of that for manufacturers if it ends up being a barrier to them getting more G-Sync monitors out there... OR if we'll see it fade away and a unified adaptive sync standard applied on all monitors across the board? I can't see this two stream approach continuing forever... it's only going to divide gamers and makes buying a GPU/monitor a far more complicated task than it should be.

Tbh it wouldn't surprise me if nVidia kept Gsync as the 'premium' option. It works *bloody well* and prolongs the life of a good gfx card, for me I think it's worth a bit of a premium (although the Ultrawides are a bit on the high side...)

Great to see good spec monitors at 'non elite tier' pricing ;)

Think that 29" is going on my santa list...

I think it's been passed around a lot that "Gsync is smoother experience than Freesync" by certain individuals, despite knowing the fact that the testing approach is flawed, when they compare Gsync 35Hz-144Hz monitor with Freesync 35Hz-90Hz monitor :p

The true advantage of Gsync lies with the module allowing them to overclock, and push the uppr supported range higher. But with 95-100Hz Gsync vs 75Hz Freesync at Ultrawide 3440x1440, the higher upper range with Gsync will realistically only offer slight benefit for non single GPU users; also for the Ultrawide 2560x1080 200Hz vs 144Hz, the benefit 200Hz over 144Hz will become almost non-existense considering the bottleneck from both GPU and CPU.

So in a sense it is more about willing-waving than anything :p

Absolutely LOVE my 29" Ultrawide! So immersive in BF4 and Elite Dangerous! Everything I've played recently has supported it natively and even some older stuff like Arkham Asylum!

Would not touch LG monitors with a bargepole, their warranty support is terrible and after 28 days OcUK also don't provide support, just look at the thread in the monitors forum.

Can't compare them tbh as I've never tried Freesync!! But tbh, frame capping it within the range (as long as it's high enough) is no big I expect :D
