As technically they are overclocking so not
Guaranteed to work
So off as default until user enables them

Kali is running from the exact same key as the Windows 10 and Windows 11 installers (Ventoy). Just tried again. Seems good. The only difference I guess is that it's not actively reading or writing to any real disk

Though I guess ones windows and ones Linux
Is a possible difference
Though not sure that matters when loaded into ram

Not familiar with the motherboard
Does it have some drives run off the cpu
And some off the chipset?
Could try a slot that runs off the chipset or cpu
Whichever one you didn't do already
Though again not sure if you already tried this
 
Sounds like a random thing, but I know there's normally a specific USB port for BIOS updates. You mentioned you've tried multiple ports, just wanted to check if you had tried used the USBA port above the left USB4 port? Later in the manual I think is the specific BIOS port ?
 
OK...
  1. Built entire rig outside of PC case - No change
  2. Installed Win11 on the Corsair SSD whilst in my laptop, moved to new PC - Instant BSOD and reboot
  3. Disabled various random CPU features within the BIOS - Nothing scientific - I managed to get a random loading of Macrium, got excited, then tried another and it didn't work
  4. I've RMAd the CPU. What else to do now? :mad:
 
You've done everything possible
More than most people
Would try
Sending the cpu back and getting another
Cpu is the logical thing left to do
Cpus don't go faulty that often
But it still happens
 
Can you access windows repair tool? In the windows install media? I think it’s accessible before the install option. Try using diskpart in the command prompt to erase and setup your nvme. You’re going to need to look at diskpart instructions though.

obviously It’s hard to diagnose what’s wrong but this has helped me with installs that don’t write to disks properly.

You've tried every component now, right?

Ram, mobo, drives, GPU/iGPU and now the CPU is being RMA'd?

Firstly I feel for you; new rig excitement scuppered by troubleshooting hell.

Secondly, you've done literally everything I can think of to find the root cause, nothing I can think of except a faulty CPU or an inordinately unlucky part combination issue, which you've done your best to mitigate with testing.

Really hopeful that the new CPU fixes your woes.

Trying it with a new budget Ryzen CPU today.

This has been a nightmare. I'll find out in a few hours if I'm cursed, fingers crossed.
 
It is a strange one.

If you have another pc in the house. Perhaps try doing a clean install on that, then swap the drive into your new rig and see if it will at least boot into windows that way.

Of course yes, I suppose some strange power drip behaviour might be a culprit, but I'd have leant in the same direction as you.

What a result if the tester CPU confirms it and you can finally get cracking.

Hope new CPU works.

When i got my first Ryzen 5800X i had to RMA it.
Found it would not work with my RTX 3070, but a GT 1030 did. Swapped to SH CPU and the 3070 worked, so RMAed the 5800X and the replacement worked perfectly.

AND YES, IT WAS THE CPU!

This 9950X3D is either incompatible with 2 different ASUS TUF motherboards (B650 and X870) or with two different brands of RAM (Kingston Fury Beast and Corsair) or incompatible with all combinations of the above.

Or the CPU I had is faulty.

Truth is, I'm never going to find out.

Currently running with a Ryzen 5 7600. I'm going to let it all settle down before I try a 9950 (non X3D).

Got there in the end (for now)
Obviously at some point have to try
The high end cpu
As it matches rest of the build level

Would think unlikely to be motherboard incompatibility
They're going to test boards with the highest end
Cpus the board can support
To make sure the boards power delivery etc is
Able to handle those cpus

Ram compatibility Would be more likely
Obviously the rams working now though so it's not
Totally incompatible
Faulty cpu seems most likely
Even brand new stuff can be faulty sometimes

Hopefully in near future we will hear
You put in high end cpu
And that everything is running great
