New gaming spec

Yeah, I'd go with Premium if I was buying Vista. You're very welcome. Now I'm crossing my fingers that it all arrives and works perfectly or else I'll like like a jackass for convincing you to build yourself. :p :o

Cheers :)

Tempted to try that powerline networking stuff, you know much about it? Not too clued up on it and could do with it over wireless really. Missing from this is some arctic silver and that's it I think. Is there anything which will be worth stretching the money for or anything nice extra to have?

Oooo I feel like a little girl on Christmas Eve ha-ha.

Will I need to mess about much in the Bios setting up the RAM/CPU settings (Multiplier, fsb etc)?

Sorry to crash the thread here, but i'm looking to buy myself a new PC soon (next couple of weeks I imagine) and I really like this spec:

But I was thinking of going SLi, how is SLi performing nowadays? (been out of the loop for a while now) and I believe you need 64bit vista to run 4GB RAM correct?

On your own built system? Probably not, you may have to increase the RAM settings to what they should be as as default a the stick will boot at 1.8v and whatever timings the SPD says should be around that. But other than that, no.

SLi is rubbish, not worth it for the extra cash. For SLi you will need to get a 680i or 650i board, as the one above is only for Crossfire as Nvidia will only allow SLi on their chipsets. I would not bother however and getting a nice P35 board with a GTX is definetly good enough. Also, yes Vista x64 is ideal for 4GB as the 32bit varietys of XP and Vista will only see up to around 3GB - 3.5GB of memory. Although when you do buy, just make a new thread and we'll get you sorted with something that is going to be more suited for yourself :)

I WANT IT NOW :(

I hate putting CPUs and heatsinks in though, I really do. Haven't done it since the socket a days.

Anyone know what it will be like with this spec?

Used to hate the way you practically had to push a screw driver or something down towards your motherboard and risk the chance of slipping and owning it :\

I hate putting PCs together and i've ordered a stupidly difficult to put on heatsink, ARGH.

Still, a 120mm fan on the CPU is always nice.

LGA775 is super easy. The pins are on the motherboard. All you have to do is line up the arrows and drop it in. You then lower the clamp and all is peachy-keen. There are videos on YouTube of it. Check 'em out.

I'm at work now I can't get on YouTube, i'm sure it'll be fine :D

I just want it now ha-ha. I'm so inpatient.

Cheers for sorting me out with the spec Billy, I owe you!
