Im needing a new mouse mat, and seems to be a few new ones on the go since I last looked at them a few years ago. So what to buy??
I currently have a Func 300 or whetevr its called , before that a Steelpad S+S thing (which I liked). Not really into the fabric ones... So whats the best to go with a Razer Lanchesis mouse?

I know you say you are not into fabric mats and i must say i was skeptical also, but i was given a Roccat Sense mat and i have to say i love it, i would not be with out it now,

It has a rubberized back on it so it sits really nice on my desk, plus when i spill my food and beer over it i can wash it.

Go to b&q and buy a single polished granite / porcelain tile. Either 300 x 300 or if you want larger 600 x 600.

I've used a 300 one now for the last 2 years with same mouse as you and it's the best I've ever had. Costs about £3 as well

Sounds good....but its gota look nice as well!! LOL

Boogie mat is just too big for my desk.

The sense sounds good though. Still a bit skeptical about the fabrick bit though. But think i might try this.

Its a polished piece of black porcelain, its just black and shiny with bevelled edges. I stuck some of those little rubber feet on mine to stop it moving about.

Great idea mate!!

TY, they are basically icy mats I guess. I'm not sure if all mice are fine with it but the razor ones definitely are, but they are so cheap its worth trying one out.

If you are feeling flush Sainsburys do a polished granite surface protector that's a little bigger but its also £9.99

I've got one of the middle sized Razer Goliathus mats and it does a great job with my G5 :)

+1 for the Goliathus, it comes in two types Speed and Control, I myself vouch for the Speed and mine is holding up surprisingly well, after a years constant abuse. Used with the Deathadder. ;)

Is there much need for a mouse mat? I've always just used my desk surface and it seems fine to me

Me too, but reading this thread it seems i've been missing out on something. Might give a mouse mat a go.

It's just when ever I think of a 'mouse mat' I remember my first 486 system using one of them 15cm square pads. Like this:

Please tell me there is a improvement with these new style ones? :)

For optimum speed and accuracy, even modern optical mice, do perform best with a mat.

doesn't actually need to be a mat.

i remember back in the day when i used to play CS 1.6 there was this pro-Gamer (can't remember which clan he was from tho) who used to play on a wooden bread chopping board rather than a mat
