New Gaming Surface Required

doesn't actually need to be a mat.

i remember back in the day when i used to play CS 1.6 there was this pro-Gamer (can't remember which clan he was from tho) who used to play on a wooden bread chopping board rather than a mat
Cool. :D
What I say, is still generally true though; especially if you take comfort into the equation.
Though what ever works for you, works for you. I would also say mouse mats surface design, has come on since the day's of CS 1.6.

I wont post a link as its probably deemed a competitor.... but

I always use the Ratpad... fantastic and very long lasting!

I know you say you are not into fabric mats and i must say i was skeptical also, but i was given a Roccat Sense mat and i have to say i love it, i would not be with out it now,

It has a rubberized back on it so it sits really nice on my desk, plus when i spill my food and beer over it i can wash it.

I always used to use plastic and smooth surface mouse mats and have recently bought a Razer Goliathus mat. Was very skeptical when it was delivered with the textured cloth surface but my Saitek Cyborg V.3 glides over it so nicely. Will definitely be sticking with textured cloth mats from now on. Much nicer to play Quakelive with.

I have a nice flat desk so the Razer Sphex really suits me.
it's about 1mm thick and has a roughish texture on the top side with a sticky bottom so it doesn't move about.

I just bought the mini steelseries as my new (yet to be built) desk is glass, and I didn't know if my G5 will work on it without a mat, lol.
