New gaming tablet

To be honest, I thought the Gamepad was going to get a whole lot more love than it's getting. I thought it was a pretty damn awesome tablet. :(

I've bought one of these, and everyone hates it. :(

It was released today, £129.

I'm buying it mainly as a N64, SNES, and Megadrive emulator so technically its got tens of thousands of games. At 1.6Ghz it should be powerful enough for PSP emulation. :)

No where near powerful for PSP emulation.
If PSP games got ported with the other games that are being ported (Such as GTA3) then sure you can play them then.

Currently directly from Archos, although they're sold out till the 18th.

Anyway, I can't see how doing this is any better, just looks awkward as hell to hold.

As for the D-pad, as long as it pivots and isn't individual buttons then it'll be fine.

They have it working on the S3, although that probably is the quad core S3.

I don't actually like PSP games, bought one, just used it for emulators. I just like the 2D scrolling shootem ups like R-Type. :)

infact, modern games just aren't fun, look at Modern Warfare, running around stressed as hell with some 12 year old screaming in your ear, how is that fun!!!

Battery life is pretty shoddy according to this review http://www.arctablet.com/blog/produ...ble-console-review-part-3-tablet-performance/

"When it comes to battery life with gaming, it is worse. Running Asphalt 7 with full brightness and Wi-Fi on, the GamePad could only handle it for slightly more than two hours. Nova Battery Tester standard benchmark measured 1% drop per 72 seconds, or a battery life of 2 hours with maximum brightness and maximum CPU load(all the networks off). Archos 80G9 got more than the double in the same benchmark(results from Nova Battery Tester page). We can only say we would like to have a bigger battery in here"

People who release the emulation games better watch out. If news catches onto this someone may get a court case slapped in their letterbox.

They 100% targeted emulation games and downloading emulation games is illegal unless you own the original.

2 hours and a bit, say 3 hours with *normal* brightness. That's alright, I can empty my phone in less than that!!

It's a cheap and cheerful tablet, they're obviously aiming at affordability so they don't get trounced by some cheap Chinese import/clone.

The problem with a re-make of PSP with different look, from unknown manufactures is that they always fail since lack of games produced for them...
