I am looking to add a waterblock into my existing loop, the addition being a waterblock for my Gigabyte 1080 D5X graphics card.

I currently have a Raystorm V3, which I believe is a Copper based block. I am also using Mayhems Pastel fluid. Now, my understanding is that you shouldn't mix metals in your loop, so based upon this, I would need a Copper based GFX block.

However, all the blocks I can find that will fit the above GFX card appear to be nickel plated, so if my understanding is correct, are not suitable.

So, ultimate questions are..
  1. With that fluid, do I have to keep metals in the loop the same?
  2. If yes to the above, what GFX block can I use in my loop?
I have based the above on what I have read, but If I am wrong, then please correct me.

Many thanks.

My understanding, blocks are Nickel plated to avoid reactions?

So its safe to have copper and nickel plated in the same loop.

The only common metal you want to avoid is Aluminium in a mixed metal loop.

Similar metals, copper, nickel are fine

Nickel, copper and brass are freely mixed in most builds so I would personally just get a decent block like EK.

The premix fluid also has inhibitors in it also.
