new gfx help please

Hi guys, I currently have a 6970 with 8GB of ram and a 2500k which is currently clocked at 4.4. I have some spare cash and wanted to spend it on my rig. I just dont no what to go with. I have always been ATI and dont no if it's worth going for nvidia and the games or going for a290 pro card and staying with what i no.

I have 400£ to fund my new purchase but is physx worth me buying a 780? And I also have a ocz 750 watt psu.

I have read a bit about mantle. Would this be worth it to stay with amd?

so hard to choose but I need something to last a couple of years

If you are going to be playing bf4 then yes a amd card would be better. 780's are still very good, and although its ready straight away on nvidia cards, you can technically get physx on amd cards. Either a 780 or a 290 when they eventually come out with good coolers on would be my choice

I am a big fan of PhysX and like the effects in games but Nvidia could do with a few more titles to make it that bit more special. The 780 is slightly faster over the 290X if you get a factory OC one like the Gigabyte OC that is for sale here for £383. Mantle is a lot of talk at the moment and the first game to use it will be BF4.

The free games are a nice plus for Nvidia at the moment and you could sell them to make the card cheaper. The 290 is a beast but a rather hot and noisy beast till custom cards come out. If you are not in a hurry, these should be out around Christmas time is my guess.

780 is a great card no doubt about it. The 290 is faster though and will peobably pull further ahead as drivers mature. On top of this you have mantle but at this point it is a bit of a unknown. Examine which feature set each card bring and which apeals to your needs the most
