hi guys,

i have a 7900gt at the mo its an xfx one and i think its dieing because i cant clock it hardly any, anymore so i was thinking i need a new gfx card, i dont ming either brand but am not sure weather i want to stay with nvidia as ive heard about a lot of the 7 series dieing anyway i am getting a dell 2007wfp soon so i need one that can handle gaming at that res or slightly lower but it cant break the bank as i havent got much money to spend maybe £160 at most

cheers

Just keep your card? Just because you can't clock it as much doesn't mean it's dieing, just drop it to stock clocks and keep the really decent 3d card you have

If you must buy a new card however, I would buy an x1800xt, top of this page.

Well you could always sell it on the MM. £130-140 add a bit of cash and buy a X1900XT

That card will perform a little worse than your current card (On currently released games). The x1800xt really is crackin' and will beat or at least keep up with the 7900gt.

It does depend on what you'll be playing though, the 1900gt will get better as new games come out as it's better at heavy shader use so if you plan to play a lot of new releases in winter and in to 2007 I'd go with the 1900gt whereas if it's todays games the x1800xt would be better.

As I said it really depends on the game, Obvlivion is a lot different to BF2 for instance... google benchmarks?

Yeah the X1900GT is slower in some games, but quicker in others (eg: Oblivion), but then it runs all current games no problem & if it runs future games faster due to the higher number of shaders then youre set.

Either way X1800XT or X1900GT, you cant go wrong.
