Hi, I've just added a gigabit switch to my network and installed a gigabit network card into one of my PC's. The other PC I'm working with already had gigabit LAN built in. However, I'm getting some weird (frustrating) results.
One PC is running XP Pro and the other Vista Ultimate (32bit). I've been testing file transfers with a 4.33gb media file and have found that if I initiate the file transfer from the XP machine (file either coming to it or going from it) then it completes in around 1min 50secs. But if I start the transfer using the Vista machine then the same transfer takes around 9min 50secs from XP machine to Vista machine. Going the other way it takes around 3mins.
Any ideas what is causing the speed differences...particularly the slow transfer from XP to Vista when started on the Vista machine?
