Your slightly faster core is not going to compensate if it's struggling for vram.

On BF3 I can literally turn the settings down to 0. And I mean, as low as every single one of them goes. SSAO off, no FSAA no Aniso etc.

It looks like garbage and still eats more than the 896mb I have on tap.

So I still can't even play it.

The problem with gaming now is that people insist on them looking amazing. We are, pardon my french, graphics whores.

This is all well and dandy, but the graphics are not being done the right way (the hard way, basically) they are just being done with enormous great textures meaning optimisation is hard. Bloatware, I believe it's called.

Kinda like going from Nero 6 to Nero 8. Both did the same things, but AheadDE decided to try and make it look nice. It ran like rubbish.

Sadly this is just the way things are headed now.

The problem of course is that once one game looks like that people expect them all to, or won't buy them.

Reviews will say "Graphics are poor !" and that's that. So coders are now being pressured to make their games stand out visually, without the engines to do so. Frostbite II is still a very new engine. It needs work. Look at what Codeys did with EGO to EGO II. Not only does Dirt 2 look better than Dirt it also runs ten times better too.

It's a problem. And it's not set to get better, only worse.

Oh and lomez - congrats, man. You'll be very happy for a whiles to come with that card :)
