Hey,

I've just done an upgrade and now having problems in that it isn't recognising my GPU. Specs:

Intel Core i5-4670k
Radeon R9 280x GDDR5 PCI-Express
Kingston Hyper X 16GB
Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard

I've checked that the card is correctly, and all the pins are attached but comp just isn't recognising that it's there. I've tried unistalling all graphics drivers, and reinstalling new ones but it just gets stuck on detecting graphics hardware.

I have also installed all the MB drivers and it doesn't seem to have helped. I've got my monitor plugged into the GPU so it's at least recognising something. And on top of that, my computer won't shut down properly, just gets stuck on the 'shutting down' screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, they're connected as well as they can be. The fans are spinning up on the card so it's getting the power.

I'm using a SuperFlower HX650W "80 Plus Gold"

I would shoot gigabyte uk an email and link them to this thread or tell them your issue, could need modded/custom bios to get your gpu working idk

there's no beta bios's for that board either yet, though they have every other board listed

could try it in lower pcie slot then back in the top pcie slot, that usually works sometimes

any newer bios versions on gigabytes website? if so update the bios

what did you use to uninstall, windows or CCC ?

Right, I've got my GPU recognised but still having trouble updating drivers past the "detecting graphics hardware".

I uninstalled the drivers previously via Windows which I think is where my problem is now coming from. Although, weirdly, I still have CCC on my system, which is recognising the new card just fine. Just won't let me update.

you've got to do a cllean uninstall windows add /re move doesnt cut it

ccc install manager has a remove all option , if that doesnt work go to amd and follow clean uninstall instructions then rerun ccc install.

Did you use the drivers off the cd or download the latest from amd ?

Just done a clean uninstall of AMD drivers. Now my GPU has stopped being recognised again and AMD still won't get past the detecting part.

As other suggestion, have you tried another slot?

At worst, it may be that the device's option ROM may be bust?

Windows not shutting down may be the OS installing updates.

/run wuapp

Make sure it's all up-to-date.

Have you tried a complete clean install of the OS and everything on top of that yet? It could just be some unknown conflict. It would save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

I did a clean install of windows and everything is finally working properly.

Must have be some unknown conflict like was said. At least I can finally get down to enjoying this now! After re-installing everything anyway.

Cheers for the help everyone! :D
