Hi just ordered the Zotac 1070 FE to replace my ageing 7970. Not had an Nvidia card since the GTX8800.

What's the recommendation around removing the AMD driver software and switching cards ?

You can uninstall the drivers, then use something like Display Driver Uninstaller to wipe any remaining trace, then swaps cards and install Nvidia drivers on reboot.

In 95% of cases though, it's actually just fine to remove old drivers, reboot and switch cards, and install new drivers.

I personally don't bother with DDU unless I encounter some kind of issue, which is maybe 1 in 100 machines/builds.

As stated. Download DDU and latest nvidia drivers. Open ddu remove drivers in safe mode and click (clean and shutdown). Remove old and install new card. Then install nvidia drivers.
